1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe
What hasn’t been said about the 57 Chevy? It is simply the most notable icon of the post war era in America. After nearly 75 years, this is the most desired car ever built by Detroit: A symbol of the free spirit of the United States that is known around the globe - second only to the American flag in worldwide recognition.
Offered for sale is a stock, unmodified California built car that is essentially like it was the day it rolled off the Oakland assembly line. It is configured as it was built, but the original Matador Red exterior was professionally changed to Raven Black. The bias ply tires were jettisoned for Coker steel belted radial whitewall tires, too.
This car features the original 283 CID V8 with Power Pak option, Powerglide transmission, and factory power brakes. The engine PURRS. The exhaust system, shocks, brakes, springs, bushings, glass, rubber, chrome, insulation, upholstery, carpets, headliner, door panels, weather stripping, knobs, handles, trim and badges are like new. Underneath, it looks like the car has hardly been driven. There has never been a speck of rust on this car, nor has it ever been damaged. The sheet metal is original and straight. The telltale indicators – headlight buckets and rocker panels – are pristine. The seamless California bumpers and all of the brightwork is exceptional.
There may be a few little flaws on this car, but you will have to look long and hard to find them. If a 1957 Chevy Bel Air hardtop has been your dream, this car should be considered. You can fly into Tucson and drive this car home if you like. If you remember Doris Day singing “See the USA in a Chevrolet” then you can relive the nostalgic times when this car was new at a very reasonable price. This is a private sale by owner, so only cash or bank to bank wire transfer will be accepted.
