""Art Ingels invented the first go kart in Southern California during the summer of 1956. The go-kart was inspired by the racing cars he helped construct at Kurtis Kraft. The chassis was crafted from steel tubing and was lightweight yet strong enough to support adult passengers. The chassis was also designed to be low to the ground and featured a wide track to improve stability. Ingels' friend Lou Borelli then mounted a surplus two stroke West Bend 2.5hp lawnmower engine manufactured by McCulloch on the chassis. Thus, the world's first go kart was born."" For consignment is a 1941 Willys Barstool Go Kart Racer. If you're a kid at heart, and what car guy isn't, then you're going to love this sit on go kart with the shell of the legendary 1941 Willys coupe.
Exterior
The fiberglass shell is an accurate depiction of one of the coolest cars ever to be converted to a street rod, the Willys. This one is painted a sinister black and adorned with appropriately miniature flames on the hood. It also has an aluminum grille, foot pegs emerging from the front fenders, and a single exhaust tip out back. A black vinyl seat rises from behind the rear window and the motorbike style handlebar and controls pops out of the hood. Small bulbs reside in the simulated headlights and 6-inch chrome wheels tuck under the fenders just like a real street rod! She's got plenty of scratches, scuffs, chips, a few remnant holes, and would benefit from an overall paint job.
Drivetrain
Under the fiberglass is a 49cc engine with a 1-barrel carburetor, with chain driven direct drive to the rear axle. The motor appears to be in driver quality condition, and the single exhaust is coated with surface rust as it makes its way through a small muffler.
Undercarriage
A tubular chassis is noted and appears to be in overall good condition with a single disc brake.
Drive-Ability
This mini Willys fires up and runs, but leaks fuel from the carburetor bowl.

The hotel just underwent a $3,000,000 renovation.
