"Offered here is a beautiful 1940 Ford Standard Tudor street rod finished in gloss Black over Bright Red & White combination interior! It features a GM crate 350ci V8 delivering 290 horsepower to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and 9"" rear axle fitted with 3.00:1 gearing! It all combines for super smooth acceleration, and lower cruising rpm's at highway speeds! Options and accessories include Vintage Air Slimline under dash heat/air system with electric cooling fan, tilt steering column, Auto Meter classic style gauges with tachometer, dual outside mirrors, front seatbelts, carpeted floor mats, and more! It retains an original style AM radio in the dash that is not currently operational due to the 12-volt conversion along with a roof mounted antenna. An accessory radio unit was fitted temporarily inside the glovebox that was later removed. The antenna for this set-up remains attached behind the rearview mirror.
It retains an original 1940 all-steel body & fenders which were all stripped to bare metal before being repainted approximately 12 years ago. All exterior stainless steel moldings, emblems and trim were retained including door handles, chrome grill, bumpers and headlight surrounds! This restorer was not new to custom restorations having built multiple street rod vehicles before, with every intention of driving his vehicles throughout the year. The engine compartment has a great appearance with a white painted firewall and Mr. 40's louvered inner fender panels, along with some added accent pinstriping in red. The engine is fitted with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and 600cfm carburetor, along with polished aluminum finned valve covers and air cleaner assembly dressed with Chevrolet orange to better match the engine block. It makes for a nice touch when the hood is open! The engine is also equipped with a Mallory Unilite electronic ignition system allowing for easy tuning and better hot starts while out on tours!
Underneath, an original 1940 chassis was provided through Heinzman Street Rods being upfitted with an independent front suspension system using Heidt's Hot Rod Shop Mustang II crossmember kit with tubular upper & lower control arms, heavy-duty shocks, power rack & pinion steering, vacuum power front disc brakes; and Chassis Engineering's parallel leaf spring set-up, Ford 9"" axle, and traditional shocks at the rear. It incorporates a front anti-sway bar for superior road manners. On the ground are 15"" Wheel Smith Smoothie steel wheels also finished in gloss black with chrome Ford Deluxe hubcaps wrapped in Auburn Deluxe Radial tires measuring 5.60R15 up front and 8.20R15 at the rear! It gives this Standard Tudor a great stance and excellent ride qualities!
The interior was professionally refinished with a traditional ribbed pattern on the doors and seats in a pleasing red and white color combination. The red 2-spoke Ford V8 steering with matching red dash and carpeting add to a classic style for a clean overall presentation! It shows 6,684 miles on the odometer since completion and was recently serviced to include new intake gasket, tuning of the carburetor, fresh engine oil with filter, recharged a/c system, installation of a new fuel sending unit, fuel filter, thermostat, new front sway bar bushings; flushed coolant system, and topped of transmission and axle fluids, along with lubricating the chassis. It really is a terrific cruiser, ready for the next owner to use and enjoy with confidence! Please feel free to call with questions or to schedule a chance to see it in person! Thanks for looking!
