H. Cochran purchased this car in Sept 2003 from Reverend Robert Barley who purchased the car in Pigeon Forge, TN. He came to see the car which was parked in a garage and though unrestored was drivable and had no rust issues. The car was originally from Glenn County Georgia where it was stored inside as well to the owner's recollection.
Reverend Robert Barley's son enjoyed working with his cousin Bobby Barley on cars. They both raced dirt track cars, with Bobby being the race mechanic. He was somewhat of a perfectionist when it came to working on cars and is also head mechanic at a landfill in West Virginia currently.
The car underwent a frame-off restoration from 2007-2008. It took a total of 14 months to complete. It was stripped down to the frame, and the body was taken to bare metal for painting. Bobby Barley assisted in the restoration of the car.
This 4-door is painted a beautiful black that is straight and slick. The running board is rubber and like new. The door handles, dual outside mirrors, wiper arms, fender welt, front & rear bumpers, front & rear bumpers guards are all like new. The front bumper grill guard, headlight trim, tail lights with blue dots, trunk handle, grill are all like new. All the trim, hood ornament and handle, wiper towers, all glass, all rubber and felt, locking Ford gas cap are all like new. The original rims are black and like new. The Ford Deluxe hub caps and trim rings are like new. Firestone wide whitewall tires are like new. This car looks great and is an eye catcher!
The original seat is covered in tan vinyl in front & back, door panels are tan vinyl and arm rest too. Headliner covered in tan vinyl to match seats and door panels and are like new. The gold carpet is like new. There is a front tan rubber floor at. Kick panels covered in tan vinyl, back panels and package covered in tan vinyl and like new. The door sill plates are like new, dash is painted black and tan. Steering column is black and steering wheel with Ford Deluxe horn button like new. VDO gauges white face in dash and like new.
SunPro temp gauge, white face mounted in glove box to check temp. Old style clock mounted in glove box door. The heater was installed and is like new. Ford logo radio mounted in dash, door handles, window cranks are all like new. The rearview mirror is like new as are the Sunvisor’s and arms and brackets. All garnish moldings are painted black. Beautiful inside.
The engine is numbers matching V8 Flathead. It has been mated to a 3-speed transmission on the column, The car has been converted from a 6-volt to a 12-volt. The clutch is newer, pressure plate and throw out bearing. There is a new radiator, coil over ribbon, chrome air cleaner, stainless water pipes to radiator, Fenton headers, electric fuel pump, chrome oil cap, Mallory ignition, newer dual exhaust with chrome tips, newer brakes, suspension went through.
