"1939 Chevrolet JD Pickup Truck For Sale - Restored Maroon with Black Fenders 235 ci Inline-6 3-Speed Manual
Route 61 Classics proudly presents this beautifully restored 1939 Chevrolet JD Pickup Truck for sale, finished in elegant Maroon with Black fenders and showing only 1,300 miles since restoration. Combining pre-war Chevrolet styling with tasteful mechanical upgrades, this truck offers both vintage charm and reliable drivability.
Performance & Mechanical
Under the hood lies an upgraded 235 cubic-inch ""Thriftmaster"" Inline-Six, producing around 135 horsepower - a significant improvement over the original 216 ci engine. Power is sent through a 3-speed floor-shift manual transmission to a full-floating rear axle, delivering smooth, easy operation around town or on the show circuit.
Braking is handled by upgraded hydraulic drum brakes with a dual-reservoir master cylinder, adding confidence and safety to every drive.
Exterior
Finished in rich Maroon with contrasting Black fenders and running boards, this Chevrolet JD presents beautifully. The paint shows excellent depth and gloss, while the chrome bumpers, vertical-bar grille, and period Chevrolet badging shine brightly. A refinished oak bed floor with stainless strips adds authentic style and detail, and dual taillights and factory-style hubcaps complete the truck's art-deco aesthetic.
Interior
Inside, the cab retains its simple and elegant 1930s layout, featuring black vinyl bench seating, paint-matched door panels, and a restored dash with period-correct gauges. The three-spoke steering wheel and floor shifter maintain authentic driving feel, while the Deluxe heater option adds a touch of comfort rare for the era.
Driving Experience
The truck starts easily and runs smoothly, with a quiet idle and strong low-end torque. The 3-speed manual shifts cleanly, and the upgraded brakes inspire confidence on modern roads. With only 1,300 miles since its restoration, it's fully sorted and ready for cruise-ins or display.
Summary
This 1939 Chevrolet JD Pickup offers a perfect blend of authenticity and modernized usability. From its upgraded 235 Thriftmaster engine to its beautifully restored wood bed and factory-style details, it's a show-ready truck that drives as good as it looks.

Growing up in the late sixties and turning sixteen in 1970, the love of muscle cars and speed was at its height. Serving three years in the army as a technician and then learning to work on heavy duty trucks steered me in the direction of repairs and led to my wife and me opening a repair center. For the next twenty two years we grew the business from 2 people to over 100 people and along the way made awesome friends and meaningful relationships across more than twenty states. We won special awards from the BBB for having great integrity and fairness as well as joining Inc Magazines fastest growing companies list. By 2014 we sold the business and had started another successful independant dealership.
2020 hit hard with Covid-19 and other health issues causing us to dial back and have the opportunity to start fresh. So here we are at Rte 61 Classics and Toy Barn. Home to everything fun from 1929 Model A to 2022 C-8 Corvette as well as a true Simulator, memorabilia and vintage toys. We hope to help others fulfill their dreams and fantasies about the automotive world just like I have been blessed to do. God is good!
