1934 Chevrolet Master 4 Door Sedan
The Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe are American passenger vehicles manufactured by Chevroletbetween 1933 and 1942 to replace the 1933 Master Eagle. It was the more expensive model in the Chevrolet range at this time, with the Standard Mercury providing an affordable product between 1933 and 1937. Starting with this generation, all GM cars shared a corporate appearance as a result of the Art and Color Section headed by Harley Earl. From 1940 a more expensive version based on the Master Deluxe was launched called the Special Deluxe. The updated corporate appearance introduced a concealed radiator behind a faade with a grille. This was the last Chevrolet that was exported to Japan in knock down kits and assembled at the company's factory in Osaka, Japan before the factory was appropriated by the Imperial Japanese Government. When Toyota decided to develop their own sedan called the Toyota AA, a locally manufactured Master was disassembled and examined to determine how Toyota should engineer their own cars. In May 1925 the Chevrolet Export Boxing plant at Bloomfield, New Jersey was repurposed from a previous owner where Knock-down kits for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac passenger cars, and both Chevrolet and G. M. C. truck parts are crated and shipped by railroad to the docks at Weehawken, New Jersey for overseas GM assembly factories.
For consignment, the beginnings of a rat rod in the form of a 1934 Chevrolet Master. This 4-door early 1930's design with an extra-long body and rear window, canvas top, and cowled hood, and running boards, it's truly a gangster car. Painted up as a taxi-cab of yore, it's got nice patina and steel spoked wheels, a newer Chevrolet drivetrain, updated suspension and brakes, and is prime for the picking. Finish this one up your way, or keep the rat rod look going and get this one drivable and enjoy as it!

Exterior
Patina abounds with lots of chipping, staining, dulling, and surface rust showing through the flat yellow finish on the body, however invasive rust is kept to a minimum. The running boards have lost their rubber covering and are now finished in glossy black and the fenders both front and rear are also in need of some restoration with a faded red finish. They present with paint chipping, rusting, and some cracks. 4 doors are seen on this sedan and display with simplistic door handles in pitted chrome on the exterior and. Up front, the once chromed radiator is now presenting in need of restoration with chrome dulling, rust and pitting. A single headlight flanks the grille and is attached with a post that mounts to the front fender, with the driver's light and mount missing. Also, the bumpers front and rear have been removed for a much cleaner look. The long cowled hood sports a trio of vent louvers on either side, and covers the unrestored engine bay, and butts up to the radiator cover up front. The roof is a canvas panel and appears as nearly new. American Racing aluminum wheels with red inserts show in 15-inch format and are wrapped in like new 195/65R15 radials.
Interior
Stripped down with 3 of the 4 doors bare and the remaining now clad with a veneer covering. Buckets in burgundy velour, quite possibly from a mid 1980's Oldsmobile, are noted for the front and in the rear we see a multitude of parts and some plywood sheeting. Thereis wear and color fade in the fabric of the buckets, but their original shape is still retained. All of the factory mohair on the side pillar covers and the headliner have been removed creating a blank canvas for your imagination. Up front is the original dash in black and a burl inlay sits in front of the driver holding a bevy of aftermarket gauges and various pull knobs. A drilled 3 spoke steering wheel fronts the dash and for the floors the carpet is gone exposing the mixture of wood and steel supports that make up the flooring.
Drivetrain
A lift of either side of the cowled hood reveals a late model consignor stated 350ci Chevrolet V8. This mill is fed by a 4-barrel Holley carburetor through an aluminum intake manifold. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is bolted to the back and sends power to a 10 bolt rear axle courtesy of a S10 Blazer. Headers are in charge of spent fossil evacuation and send the gasses rearward through dual exhaust with a pair of Turbo style mufflers.
Undercarriage
Plenty of surface rust on floor pans, frame, and body hangers, however no invasive rust is noted. A Mustang II front suspension has been added and in the rear are traditional leaf springs. Meanwhile, 4 wheel disc brakes are on for the WHOAH factor.
Drive-Ability
Presently this engine does not run, but we were able to turn it over by hand so that's a good sign.
Thanks to minimal rust throughout, this car has excellent bones as a foundation for a restoration or street rod or finish it as the rat rod that has been started. A project car, right out of the gangster era, with tons of Art Deco design, and a modern V8 drivetrain.
