"1931 Ford Model A Victoria
""Of the 17 body styles offered in 1930, the Model A's third season the Victoria was completely new. The Victoria was the most noteworthy, heralding a number of styling features that would find wider use in 1931. This automobile offered extra wide doors for ease of entry and had both folding front seats for access to the roomy rear seat. The area rear of the back seat was luggage space, from an added pleasing ""bustle"" to the car's rear contour. The Victoria cars were available in two roof styles, with steel rear quarters or with a full padded fabric cover. In 1931, production virtually soared. By the time production wound down in August, nearly 37,000 had been delivered."" Maffi.org
For consignment, a 1931 Ford Model A Victoria showing 2,388 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car was built in Florida in 2000 and since purchasing it in 2020, our consignor has added a grocery list of improvements including new wheels and tires, a new carburetor and tune up items, new stainless steel exhaust, and as recently as July 2025, a new battery was added.
Exterior
Our consignor emphasized that this car gets a lot of attention wherever it goes, and it's one that will stop you in your tracks at the mall where 940 other cars will vie for your attention! It's that stunning Mint Green two stage paint that does it, a unique and standout color that is the perfect base for the contrasting black bits including that canvas roof that waterfalls over the rear window. 15-inch glossy black steel wheels are sandwiched between moon style hubcaps and white wall tires and the rubber coated running board adds the final piece of contrast. There's a Medusa-like ""31 Vikky"" graphic on each side of the cowl and up front, an original Mobil Oil Pegasus radiator cap that doubles as a hood ornament. Out back, the mounted spare shares this side of things with an added third LED brake light and period reverse light, both added by our consignor along with LED headlights. Imperfections include an area of bubbling, some cracked paint around the engine cover handle, random tinges of surface rust, rust and cracked paint in and under the drip rail.
Interior
Green Bedford cord dresses the inner doors with a leather header band that takes in the door handle and both doors present nicely. The material is used in the inserts of the leather bucket seats, designed in a way they could not have even dreamed about in '31, with supportive sides and green head restraints, and the rear bench is also handsomely upholstered. A Flashpower steering wheel with Klaxon horn presents to the driver with attractive wood and steel design leading to the fresh dashboard housing Classic Instrument vintage style gauges across the board along with some modern switches and an AM/FM radio, iPhone holder, and A/C panel. The odometer and speedometer have a GPS speed sensor. A floor shifter rises from the flat floor and crescendos with a flaming ball handle on a polished staff that matches the shiny steering column. Speakers and dome lights live in the headliner to complete the clean interior.
Drivetrain
Behind the engine cover sits a clean Ford 3.8 liter V6 with a 2-barrel carburetor and an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the Ford 8"" rear. Chrome valve covers dress things up a bit, but the engine is more about show than go!
Undercarriage
The underside is generally clean with minimal surface rust and some residual oil about. The dual exhaust flows through turbo mufflers on its way to the chrome tips at the back. Power brakes are onboard as front discs and rear drums and suspension consists of a transverse leaf spring in front and a 4 link with coil springs in back.
Drive-Ability
We hop in this candy colored beauty and crank the V6 to life. The cozy cabin is comfortable enough and even with narrow windows, visibility is pretty good. The car tracks straight and handles well on fairly new shoes, and braking is on point. All functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
No one knows how many Model A Victorias are still on the road, but 96 years later, we're guessing not many. This one presents very nicely with a paint job that the culture may not have accepted in 1931, but it dresses up this classic and creates a unique presentation that absolutely turns heads. That's just icing on the cake for a nice build and a trusty V6 behind the louvered covers.
