"Transportation The Way It Was-
The Depot Hack is one of the rarest models found on the Model A chassis. The Hack was originally intended to be guest transportation for hotels and resorts but was more often used as a taxi for transporting passengers and luggage to/from railroad depots. The term ""Depot Hack"" was derived from the word ""hackney"", another word for taxi.
Step Back In Time-
This handsome 1931 Model A Depot Hack runs and drives like it did in '31. The current owner has owned this Hack for 23 years and it was the beneficiary of a total restoration in 2002. The process included a respray of Cream Beige with Black fenders and careful refinishing of the 4-door wooden body (partial original wood). Factory wire wheels have been refreshed and mount period correct Firestone bias tires.
Accents And Great Looks-
Other accents include classic chrome grill, front/rear chrome bumpers and classic 'Ahooga' horn. There is also a driver-side fender mounted spare with cover and drop-down tailgate. The open passenger compartment features three-row seating for seven. New black vinyl upholstery has been fitted, and the dash holds original gauges that function well. Vintage door cards are wooden, and the handsome roof is beautiful planks with a vinyl top.
Flathead Power-
Horsepower is provided by a 201ci flathead 4-cylinder engine that has been rebuilt and runs strong. It is backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox. Brakes are 4-wheel mechanical drums, and the electrical system is 6-volt.
This Ford Model A Depot Hack would be a wonderful addition to anyone's Blue Oval collection - take the family for a ride in the country, or to the train depot.
