There is no way Henry Ford could have imagined that 91 years after he built the venerable 1930 Model A that it would be such an icon with car fanatics. He certainly couldn't have dreamed that a whole separate industry would be born out of customizing his products.
However, that is exactly what happened! Thankfully, we get creative people with a vision to explore the endless possibilities, such as this gorgeous all-steel 1930 Model A Coupe custom-built by Wheeler's Speed Shop and offered for sale at Art & Speed Classic Cars. Showing only 1,956 miles on the odometer since its completion in 2007, this no-expense-spared former Street Rodder magazine feature car and Goodguys Rod and Custom show winner is still as stunning as the day it was complete.
We have to start with the incredible paintjob. After the top was chopped 2.5-inches, it was sanded to perfection before Eagleton's Custom Paint expertly slathered it in a custom green paint. When they were done, it went to Vandemon for one-of-a-kind white flames with red and green accents. The paint is flawless from stem to stern with nary a rock peck. All of the glass, emblems, and chrome are all new as well. Even the underside looks as beautiful as the topside, with chrome and stainless everywhere.
The rust-free painted chassis rides on a TCI independent front suspension with chrome A-arms, adjustable coilover shocks, and Wilwood power disc brakes. A chrome Heidt's independent rear suspension with adjustable coilovers locate the Jaguar style rearend with inboard disc brakes and body-colored axles. Steering is manual, but with this light little A-bone, it turns with ease. A big and little setup creates the perfect rake with Budnik Wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires (195/55/15 Front, 255/60/17 Rear).
Under the side-opening louvered hood, the engine of choice is a fuel-injected 350ci RamJet with a polished intake and polished custom exhaust. The color-matched Oldsmobile valve covers have chrome wire looms on top. An electric fan keeps things cool, while a serpentine front-accessory drive keeps the air-conditioning compressor and alternator close to the block within the tight confines. Power transfers through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission.
The custom leather interior was stitched by Westminster Upholstery in off-white with darker green pleated inserts. The carpet matches the exterior with a floormat trimmed in off-white leather, while chrome trim adorns all the windows. The headliner above is off-white leather and houses the custom sound system head unit, which has speakers in both doors and two speakers behind the seat. Also, there, you will find a 10-disc CD changer and the trunk latch. Facing forward, you'll see a chrome tilt steering column attached to the banjo-style steering wheel, which is wrapped in dark green leather. Vintage Air climate controls sit just below the showpiece - Classic Instrument gauges backed by a gold mother-of-pearl inlay from Fender Guitars.
It probably goes without saying, but this is a one-of-a-kind show winner that will turn heads wherever it goes. It drives as good as it looks and needs nothing. If you are in the market for a gorgeously stunning Street Rod, this 1930 Model A is awaiting your visit at Art & Speed. Give us a call to schedule an appointment today before you miss out!

At Art & Speed, we believe that automobiles are more than just transportation. They are part of the "thrill ride" of life!
Maybe it was the car that carried you and that special person on your first date; or brought home your newborn baby. Perhaps a certain car brought father and son together in a project that created cherished memories through frustration, laughter and proud accomplishments. Maybe it was the object that created freedom and exhilaration from the growl of the big block engine, the smell of the interior and the fuel, the feeling of being one with the road. Perhaps it's all about the first time you saw your favorite car with it's sleek lines, wild colors, bold graphics, or elegant sense of beauty and artful design. The wind in your face and hair… The sensation of speed… And remember the family vacations? And, of course, none of us ever had our picture taken with our cars, right?
As adults, we have a passion for the "vehicles of our lives," the stories that they remind us of, the music that we hear when we see certain automobiles. Indeed, automobiles are woven into the tapestry of our lives, reminding us of simpler pleasures.
At Art & Speed, our goal is to help you relive those experiences and create new ones. Founded by Kevin Caffman and Barry Gilmore, Art & Speed delivers the vehicles, memorabilia and special events that strike passion, revive old memories, and allow us to share those events with our family and friends. And most importantly, Art & Speed will help you make new memories!
Art & Speed offers fine collectible automobiles, from original survivor to quality driver, show, and investment cars. We specialize in muscle cars, 50s and 60s classics, as well as modern performance, luxury and exotic cars.
Through our network of resources and professional restoration services, Art & Speed can also help you locate that special car you have been searching for or build the car of your dreams.
Art & Speed not only buys quality collector cars, but we also offer a consignment program for our clients who want to sell one car or a complete collection. Employing technology, we market your car to the broadest international audience possible. Art & Speed can also assist you in changing the composition of your current collection. We offer both buyer and seller agent services and can take your car to major auction events for maximum exposure.
Kevin has been a "car guy" since he was old enough to peer out the car windows, identifying every car by year, make and model. Over the years, he has built a reputation for building, owning and selling high quality collector cars. With a background in business, information technology and digital marketing, he has continued to pursue the art of classic automobiles as a hobby. After a successful career in the corporate world, Kevin decided to pursue his dream of owning and building a "different kind of business". Kevin sees vintage, classic and performance cars as an emotional interaction, merging the worlds of performance with the art of the automobile. Thus the vision for Art & Speed was born!
