It is so uncommon that, when a builder chooses something different, it frequently becomes the centerpoint of the build and this 1927 Ford Model T Roadster is no exception.What sets this roadster apart is the 255ci Drake Offenhauser inline-4 race engine under the hood. This twin-cam, nicknamed the Offy began life as a marine engine, but with numerous displacements, went on to power countless race cars including land speed racers, midget cars and became known for dominating the Indianapolis 500. Legendary for its light weight, incredible power, reliability and small size, the Offy was the engine to have in your race car from the 1940s through the mid-1960s. This Offy features its original magneto and water plumbing system, and breathes through a set of Mikuni carburetors. A dry sump oiling system is a clear tie back to its racing days, as is the custom tube header. Power is sent through a Ford 3-speed automatic to the rear wheels via a Ford 9-inch Rear end with 3-link suspension.The body is finished in bright yellow and is largely built of fiberglass. The Track-Style nose, with its hood and louvered side panels pay homage to what lies beneath, and are made from aluminum. This all sits on a custom steel tube chassis, and rolls on a custom set of Ansen five-hole wheels with CNC profile cuts for that classic machined finish. Wilwood disc brakes sit behind them in front.The interior is classically simple hot rod, with a single bench wrapped in caramel leather, and carpeting to match. The dashboard is painted to match the exterior, and features black-on-white gauges set within chrome trim rings.A truly unique build, this Model T is a one of a kind build, and one that you may never find again.
