Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1923 Ford Model T Roadster, a bold hot rod finished in a vibrant red exterior with custom flames and a tan interior. With its open-top body, exposed wheels, compact proportions, and unmistakable T-Bucket attitude, this Ford delivers the kind of presence that makes it stand out at cruise nights, local shows, or anywhere the road takes it.
Under the hood is an estimated 1977 Chevrolet 350 CID small-block V8 paired with a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic transmission. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a mild cam, a gear-drive timing setup, and an HEI ignition system. Additional maintenance includes an oil and filter change, tightened header bolts, carburetor tuning, a newer air filter, and replacement spark plugs.
The TH350 transmission is operated through a Bell-style floor shifter with a neutral-safety switch. Documentation notes a remote aluminum transmission pan, an added dipstick, and a fluid and filter service with a new pan gasket. Power is sent to a Chevrolet rear axle believed to carry 3.55:1 gearing. The rear differential has also received service, including an axle breather, replacement differential fluid, pinion seal work, and axle seal attention.
Up front, the Roadster uses a transverse leaf spring and friction shocks, along with a reverse Corvair steering box. The tie rod and steering rods were increased in diameter, while an Ididit tilt steering column adds adjustability behind the wheel. Front disc brakes with wire wheels provide stopping power up front, while the rear retains drum brakes. The brake system uses a dual Corvette-style master cylinder mounted beneath the driver-side floor.
The T-Bucket rides on Weld aluminum wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson radial tires. The exterior is finished in bright red with flame graphics, while the rear deck includes a relocated gas fill and access provisions for the fuel tank and battery. The wiring uses a Painless harness, and the lighting setup includes separate circuits for the headlights, running lights, brake lights, and rear license-plate illumination.
Inside, the tan cabin keeps the classic hot rod experience simple and focused. The interior received new carpet and Dynamat-style insulation, while a removable Sony faceplate radio adds entertainment. Access panels beneath the carpet provide entry to the brake master cylinder and related components, and the open cockpit keeps the driver connected to the sound and feel of the small-block V8.
With its Chevrolet 350 CID V8, TH350 automatic transmission, Edelbrock carburetor, reverse Corvair steering box, Ididit tilt column, front disc brakes, Weld wheels, Mickey Thompson tires, Painless wiring, and red flame-painted body, this 1923 Ford Model T Roadster brings together traditional T-Bucket style with a well-documented collection of mechanical and electrical updates.
