1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 – Black, Red, and Everything Right

This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 has everything you want from one of the most iconic years in Camaro history — and it has them all together in one car. T-tops, a 350 V8, a 4-speed manual, black paint with red Z28 stripes, a matching red interior, and 88,236 documented actual miles combine to make this one of the most complete and desirable third-gen Z28s you’ll find.

Performance & Drivetrain

  • 350 CID V8 — running strong with a nice exhaust note that fits the Z28 personality perfectly
  • 4-speed manual transmission — the most engaging way to drive a Camaro of this era, full stop
  • Power steering keeps the driving experience manageable without removing feedback
  • Power front disc brakes provide confident, reliable stopping power

Exterior Features

  • Black paint with red Z28 stripes — widely regarded as the definitive color combination on these Camaros, and this one delivers it well
  • T-tops — the feature that defines the late-seventies and early-eighties Camaro experience
  • Front and rear spoilers give the car a purposeful, aerodynamic stance from every angle
  • Hood scoop and fender vents add the right muscle car drama to the profile
  • Tinted windows complement the black exterior and add a subtle, finished look
  • Polished alloy wheels wrapped in raised white letter radial tires — a classic combination that suits the Z28 perfectly

Interior Features

  • Clean, stock interior in outstanding preserved condition for the mileage
  • Red cloth and vinyl bucket seats — the perfect match for the exterior stripe color
  • Center console with shifter keeps the driver-focused layout exactly as it should be
  • Upgraded in-dash radio — AM/FM/CD player installed for modern audio convenience
  • Tilt steering column for a more comfortable, adjustable driving position
  • Z28 carpet floor mats protect the carpet and add a factory-correct finishing touch
  • A/C present for comfortable cruising in warm weather

Chassis & Equipment

  • 88,236 documented actual miles — a verifiable, low-mileage example by any measure for a car of this age
  • All the options you’d want: T-tops, A/C, power steering, power front disc brakes, tilt column, and upgraded audio
  • The combination of mechanical and comfort upgrades makes this a Z28 that drives as well as it shows

The Driving Experience

  • Drop the T-tops, roll the windows down, and grab gears — there is no better way to experience a late-seventies Camaro, and this one does all of it exactly right
  • The 350 V8 and 4-speed manual are a matched combination that rewards the driver at every speed
  • The exhaust note, the shifter, the red bucket seats, and the open sky above your head create a driving experience that only these Camaros and their era can deliver
  • Low documented miles mean this car drives with the confidence and feel of a machine that hasn’t been worn out — everything works the way it’s supposed to

I’m I seeing it or note. Looking at the dash pad, what I can see in pictures and the video it appears across the top it’s somewhat stained under the windshield and has minor creaks in corners like I experienced with my 77 that I know want to replace. OR I’m I not correct? Thanks

    • Brad K. says:

Hello and thank you for your interest! The dash on the Camaro has one small crack and there is some slight discoloration near the middle due to sun exposure.

  • Randell Carr 8 says:

Does it have or has it had rust

  • Ronson68L78 says:

Why 1980 emblems and stripes? Repaint?

    • Brad K. says:

It looks like every other 1979 we’ve had, and when I look up 1979 Camaro Z28s, they all have these stripes so I’m not sure how to answer your question.

    • Ronson68L78 says:

I have a 1979, factory original and the stripes and emblem layout is different. It doesn’t matter, I was just curious why the 1980 layout was used after the repaint instead of what is correct for a 1979. Maybe the ’79 stripe kit was no longer available?

    • Brad K. says:

Ok, well again in my searches, that is what every 79 looks like. But if you’re not interested, I’m not going to keep digging into it. Thanks!
