1932 Ford 5 Window – The Little Deuce Coupe

There is only one car that instantly comes to mind when you think about hot rods. The Little Deuce Coupe. It is the quintessential rod. Its the car everyone who loves and appreciates the heritage of hot rodding has to own at some time. The Beach Boys wrote a song about it. George Lucas featured a deuce coupe in the 60s cult classic film American Grafitti. In every old photograph of racing at the dry lakes or on the early drag strips, a deuce coupe is prominent. No other vehicle of any year or make has ever captured the enduring style and magical charisma of this Ford masterpiece. It is a timeless icon recalling the birth of a tradition. Here is your chance to make a piece of history yours.

Some would argue that real hot rods don’t have valve covers or tops, but here is a hot rod coupe that is more practical for every kind of weather, powered by a small block Chevy mill considerably more dependable under nearly all driving conditions than the flat motor. The point is driving a real hot rod, and that is indeed what this car is, should be as effortless as taking the family car for a drive.

This is a car you can depend on for basic transportation, yet once you get behind the wheel you are transported to a different dimension. Going for a ride in this Cadmium Yellow time machine takes you back decades in your mind. You not only get where you are going, but you get there feeling as if you took a detour through your youth on the way. Time is not a commodity you can buy at any price, but this car seems to make time stand still and the vivid sensation of another era comes free with the admission fee.

1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe

This 5 window coupe is a flawless car. Since it was first assembled, it has passed through the hands of six owners, each one refining it a bit more. Since 2018 it has been completely refreshed from bumper to bumper by the owner, with several new features added. The coupe has a supercharged 350 CID powerplant that meets every criteria for hot rod, yet it is mild mannered until the loud pedal is engaged.

The polished Wieand street blower rides atop the small block, squeezing about 450 horsepower, and a Hilborn style bug catcher looks just right on this rod. The 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission features electronic lockup and the beefy custom driveline hooks up to a 9 Ford PosiTraction rear end with 3.73:1 gears – a perfect combination for instant launch and economical cruising. With big Wilwood disk brakes at all four corners, it stops effortlessly.

Driving it is like driving a much newer car. The Gibbons body rides on a Pete & Jakes boxed frame. Heidts SuperRide independent front suspension, and Pete & Jakes triangulated 4 bar suspension aft mean this car handles like a sports car. Despite all its potential, it has not been abused. Rather, it has been honed to a fine edge to satisfy the most discerning judge of its attributes.

This coupe is the perfect ride for the person who enjoys meeting people and winning applause at car shows. It demands attention. The attention to detail is unmatched by 99 percent of the cars of its type. The finished underside of this little Deuce is as presentable as the shiny side. Aluminized headers feed 2-1/2 inch stainless steel exhaust pipes with Flowmaster mufflers, so the throaty rumble of the coupe lets folks know it isnt any poser. The stance is perfect thanks to new BF Goodrich Radial T/A Bigs ‘n Littles on American Racing Salt Flats rims. The grill is by Dan Fink, the headlights are 1934 Ford truck buckets with integral turn signals, and the list of special features is a long one.

Inside, the magic continues. A tilt column features a leather wrapped LeCarra wheel, Vintage Gen II air conditioning and heat provide climate control, a headliner mounted JVC sound system with remote keeps the tunes flowing, and the dash is full of Stewart Warner Wings white faced instruments. A backup camera helps in parking the coupe, and in a tribute to its heritage, actor Paul LeMat, who played Milner in the movie and drove the Deuce in American Grafitti, autographed the dashboard.

The outstanding custom interior of the car is finished in two tone gray leather crafted by Gabe Lopez, and German square weave wool carpeting covers the floor. There is ZERO evidence of any wear or tear anywhere on this car. It is really special. An E ticket ride for sure.

ACC stated actor Paul LeMat, who played Milner in the movie and drove the Deuce in American Grafitti, autographed the dashboard. Now they want proof of FB conversation. Maybe in the future you should do your research before you make statements like that.

    • roadratt says:

It has been previously stated that the seller bought this car from a previous owner and the signature was on that dash before that owner bought it. In fact, the car has had a number of owners, and one of them named Bob Bartlett, now deceased, is said to have had the car autographed at a SEMA show in Las Vegas where he was in charge of the booth setup there. We went to all known previous owners, and they all said the same thing. Nonetheless, the value in this coupe is the incredible attention to detail in every aspect of its mechanical and electrical systems, its running gear, the fit and finish of the body, the interior and its pristine condition. It is a car that anyone will be proud to own. If the autograph is more important than those facts, perhaps this ride should go to a buyer who will loves the car. It isn’t being advertised as memorabilia.
