Light on its feet at just over 2,000 pounds, this Lotus does not need a large engine for quick motivation. Only 1,080 Lotus Elise models were made in 2006 and this is just one of 87 models made in this color. With only 22,xxx miles showing with plenty of exciting miles to go!
This Elise was made in Hethel, Norfolk, England at Lotus' factory in November 2005. It's dressed in a rare color, Ardent Red and the paint and trim are in overall very good order. Showing some flaws on close inspection. The bodywork is straight and solid, the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body, the engine bay is tidy and the car looks ready for an adventure. This model comes with a monowiper.
This car rolls on Yokohama AdvanA048 radials, size 195/50R16 in front and 225/45R17 in rear. Each tire is mounted on a performance Lotus alloy wheel. The black alloys look excellent while the tires are in very good order. The car has a performance suspension and performance brakes with cross-drilled rotors.
This Lotus is powered by an all-aluminum alloy 1.8L DOHC Toyota (code 2ZZ-GE) with a Yamaha-designed twin-cam head offering variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust valvetrain and a Toyota C64 six-speed manual transmission. Although the engine was borrowed from Toyota, its tune for the Elise was done in-house by Lotus. Driver convenience features include factory air-conditioning.
The car's black leather interior includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The pair of ProBax seats are definitely waiting for a new adventure. The black and silver floor offers good contrast to the paint. The three-spoke steering wheel is in excellent shape, as are the dashboard and inner door panels. The dash has OEM Lotus 2-4 gauges. The center console and console-mounted shifter look great. An aftermarket JL audio system and a Sony infotainment screen with Bluetooth and phone connectivity complete the interior.
The 2006 models sported LED tail lights, drive-by-wire (an updated ECU) acceleration, improved fuel consumption and more comfortable ProBax seats.
The Elise was named after Elisa Artioli, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli who was chairman of Lotus and Bugatti at the time of the car's launch.
Competition to this Lotus in 2006 included Audi's S4 Convertible, BMW's M3 Convertible, Lexus' SC 430, Mazda's MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-Benz's SLK 350, Nissan's 350Z Roadster, Panoz's Esperante, Pontiac's Solstice and Saturn's Sky.
This is a rare opportunity to own a lithe, fast two-seater that is seldom seen in this country. If you want to see it up close and personal, pay a visit to MotoeXotica Classic Cars today!
