Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this gorgeous Signal Red 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL for sale. 1971 Marked the final year of the 280SLs production, and saw a little more than 800 units produced, with only about 10 percent of them being configured with manual transmissions. These "Pagoda" Benzes have long been a sought-after collectors item, and this example is a very good one. Its Signal Red paint really pops in bright light and is in great condition. The interior looks practically unused, with its supple yet supportive black leather seats showing almost no wear, and the black carpeting also seems to have seen very little use. A folio of receipts and documentation tracing much of its ownership history, with records (and many receipts) having been traced back to 1981 will accompany the car. This fine example of the Mercedes-Benz W 113 platform is powered by a strong 2.8L fuel injected inline 6-cylinder engine, which is certainly more enjoyable when backed by the butter smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission. Power four-wheel disc brakes provide sure stopping power, and the radial tires add to the handling and ride comfort. Power steering makes parking a breeze and managing jaunts down twisty roads a pleasure. A Becker Europa AM/FM radio provides adequate "additional entertainment", given that most will likely prefer to listen to the sweet sound of the engine. The manual black canvas convertible top raises and lowers with ease, and the tonneau cover adds to the smooth lines of the roadster when going top down. The Mercedes-Benz toolkit is also included, and tucks away neatly in its factory location. These W 113 cars are becoming harder to find as time passes, so dont miss out on this one - it is a wonderful reflection of Mercedes-Benzs heritage and dedication to quality, making it a valuable addition to any collectors garage. Call or email our Houston Showroom today to make it yours before someone else does!
