"1971 Ford Bronco
""Bronco is an adventurous breed of four wheeler that can get up, over, around or through all kinds of obstacles that would stop others. Large angles of approach and departure permit getting up and down steep inclines or into and out of deep ditches. High ground clearance and tough, protected underside further aid in negotiating difficult obstructions."". Thx to the 1971 Ford Bronco sales brochure
For consignment, a 1971 Ford Bronco that's been modernized and modified in many ways. Ford designers could not have imagined 53 years ago the potential of their simple boxed body Broncos nor the fervor that's surrounded their collectability. It is astounding, and so is this truck.
Exterior
Two stage Light Blue Metallic covers this bucking Bronco in glossy glory. This includes the grille, the cab, and the fender flares. Meanwhile, the bumpers, light rings, (around LED lights), door handles, mirrors, and Bronco emblems consist of chrome or polished metal for some shiny contrast. Original Broncos were high by 1971 standards but there's no ditch too deep for our '71 which sits even higher with a 1.5-inch suspension lift and 1-inch body lift. Ford is written in red on the grille and coordinates with the ""sport"" badges on the side. 15-inch ProComp wheels wrapped in 33x12.55R15LT tires provide the meaty shoes for this horse. We had a hard time finding any faults in the paint, metal, lenses, or wheels on the exterior of this Bronco. Want to go topless, just get a friend to help remove the hardtop and enjoy the open air and sun. Should a passing shower come along to spoil your fun, our consignor is including a new black full zip soft top as well. Yee-haw!
Interior
Does diamond stitched Saddle leather take your breath away? It does for this writer and in contrast with the light blue, it is just spectacular! It's on the door cards of course, which also bring in the blue metallic paint. AMP Research retractable power steps pop down to greet you and diamond stitched heated bucket seats invite you in and offer three point seat harnesses. The rear fold and tumble bench mirrors the materials and design and is set far back in the bed, leaving lots of legroom, while a body color keyed roll cage surrounds you along with diamond stitched saddle wall coverings. All new interior and exterior hardware including handles, knobs, glass, and mirrors have been added. A 3 spoke wood steering wheel provides a hardy handle but our eyes are drawn to the saddle leather dash cover. Meanwhile, the body colored dash, single integrated gauge, and knobs all look pristine. A Pioneer AM/FM radio with Bluetooth is present but let's not forget the polished steering column where the shifter and indicator reside. A Vintage Air system is installed on the rig for year round climate comfort. On the floor, twin range selectors sit neatly on the plastic molded transmission hump while black rubber mats cover the floors in front and bedliner in the back. The ceiling is painted black and is looking fine and dandy.
Drivetrain
A Blueprint crate 302ci V8 motor sits spotlessly in the engine bay and is fuel injected via a Holley Sniper EFI system. It dyno'd at 316.5 horsepower. The underside of the hood and firewall is sprayed cleanly with bedliner like textured paint while the inner fenders are body colored. All components including hoses, fluids, radiator, water pump, fuel pump, and battery are new. A 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive rows the four gears to all four wheels where Ford 9"" axles house 4.11 ratioed gears with Posi at both ends. A Dana 20 twin stick transfer case provides the range selection. Wilwood power disc brakes are equipped up front and power drums are in the rear. A Borgeson kit provides power steering.
Undercarriage
No evidence of being stranded in a ditch under here as everything is clean, robust, and intact. Textured bed liner coating covers the flat surfaces of the undercarriage so feel free to drive it in the rain and snow because this will likely never rust! Radius arm and coil spring suspension live up front while leaf springs are found in the back along with Bilstein shocks. Headers start off the exhaust system which joins into a single exhaust, enters a FlowMaster muffler and exits via a stainless steel tailpipe.
Drive-Ability
We step up into the treehouse on wheels and have a commanding view of the road. The seats are comfortable but let's be real, this is a duded up SUV, not a luxury car and that's part of the enormous appeal. Thanks to the Holley Sniper EFI the truck fired right up and even with a single exhaust, sounded amazing. We rolled the big LT tires onto the loop, and it rolled along eagerly with excellent throttle response and plenty of power on tap. Brakes are as important as reins on a stallion, and the power brakes worked as advertised! As expected, all functions included the radio into four speakers and the Vintage Air worked flawlessly. Hot diggity dog!
Here's a no expense spare spectacular version of a once utilitarian vehicle more suited to a rural existence. Today, it'll be right at home next to Italian exotics at the next cars and coffee event. Chances are this truck will never see a ditch. You simply could not build this truck for the list price so if you're looking for a turn key show truck with all the modern conveniences and fun you'll need for a lifetime, please consider this fine 1971.
