*1971 Chevrolet C10 Custom*In the 2000s when American Muscle Car values shot through the roof, many hot rodders and customizers could no longer justify altering these collector cars. It was at this time that the rise in popularity for modifying trucks really began to take hold and in recent years, the classic truck market has risen to show the widespread appreciation for the vehicles. Providing a perfect blend of classic style with usability that isn't available in coupes or sedans, people have come to appreciate trucks as a classic that you can still use- and the Chevrolet C10 is at the top of everyone's list. This 1971 example is comprehensively customized, yet benefits from a full body off restoration, to ensure that every system is in prime condition. The first thing you notice as you approach this truck is how clean the shape is- during the restoration when the car was taken down to bare metal, the door handles were shaved, as well as the drip rails on the cab. At the same time, the stake pockets on the bed rails were all filled and the tailgate lever was moved inside the gate. These modifications leave a smooth, uninterrupted shape, which is enhanced even further by the Peugeot Beige Gizeh Metallic- which is a striking shade of pewter metallic. The paint job was completed by Arizona Automotive Finishes and a considerable amount of time was clearly spent getting the body completely dialed in to ensure a smooth and even spray. A steel grille shell with a 1968-style front grille was welded into the front which gives this truck a look all its own, and a new custom bed floor was installed, which is sprayed with a durable coating. One of the greatest party tricks of this truck is the addition of an Air Ride Technologies airbag suspension system with Level Pro controls. Not only does this give the truck a great ride but when you reach your destination, at the push of a button, your truck can be sitting on the ground. With so much time spent dialing in the exterior, it is no surprise that the interior is just as impressive. Custom black leather and suede bucket seats are installed, and separated by a large, leather and suede console. Sitting in front of the driver is a 3-spoke billet steering wheel that frames modern Classic Instruments gauges, in an original-style dashboard, and Vintage Air has been installed to keep you cool. Next to that is a completely custom stereo setup which includes an amplifier, custom door speakers, subwoofers behind the seats and in-dash tweeters, all of which combine to give you remarkable sound- which you need to hear the stereo over what's sitting under the hood. From the factory, most of these C10s would have been fitted with inline-6s or small block V8s- but those options definitely wouldn't cut it for this C10. Beck Racing Engines in Phoenix, AZ built a massive 468ci big-block V8, topped with an Edelbrock performer intake and carburetor, this truck was dyno-tuned to produce a tremendous 543 horsepower, reliably on pump gas. Given this performance, no ordinary gearbox would do, so Hughes Transmissions in Phoenix built a stout TH400, which is paired to a Gear Vendors overdrive system, which is built as a splitter. This helps keep the gearbox together with all the power, and effectively gives the driver 6 ratios to work with, splitting each of the 3 speeds in the TH400 into 2. Power is then sent out to a 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 rear gears with a limited slip differential, and power Baer disc brakes are installed at all 4 corners to slow things down. This Chevrolet C10 was built to an extremely high level and would be the perfect truck to take cruising as the weather gets nice, or an outstanding starting point for you to add some custom touches and make it all your own. With the enormous time and money spent putting this C10 together, you will be hard pressed to find one that looks and drives as well as this example. Don't wait to build one yourself when this one is already done and ready to hit the
