1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 For Sale - Incredible Unrestored Survivor Example LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 The pony car rivalry had begun in 1967 with the introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro by General Motors. The Camaro gave Ford its first real competition since the introduction of the Mustang in 1964. However, revenge was sweet with the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302. The name was inspired by Ford stylist Larry Shinoda, who had a nickname among Ford employees of “Boss” and 302 was the motor to power this legendary mustang. Under the hood, the Boss's high-output 302 V-8 was said to produce 290 horsepower at 4600 rpm, actual output was estimated to be far higher. Mated to the motor is the optional wide ratio 4-speed manual. Ford spared no expense to ensure this would be a Trans-Am-worthy power plant, installing new "dry-deck" Cleveland-style heads with 2.33-inch intake valves and no head gaskets, solid lifters, an aluminum high-riser manifold, super-high-flow Holley four-barrel carburetor, high-capacity dual-point ignition, four-bolt central-main-bearing caps, cross-drilled forged crankshaft, and special pistons. This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss offered here for sale was sold new at Cavalier Ford in Norfolk, Virginia on June 8th,1970. The Cavalier Ford dealer sticker is still affixed to the rear tail panel. As per the Marti report, this is one of only 81 ordered new in code Q Medium Blue Metallic paint with a Black Clarion/Corinthian Vinyl bucket seat interior. Additional options include an electric clock, F60x15 belted tires, power steering, am radio, decor group, and tinted glass. Over the years, this Boss 302 has been carefully maintained in its original never restored condition by previous ownership. The original Medium Blue Metallic paint is in incredible condition and the original Black Clarion Knitted Vinyl interior is in outstanding condition as well. Underneath the hood is a very original engine bay with correct components. Tucked between the shock towers is the numbers matching Boss 302-4v power plant. Behind this special engine is the numbers matching close ratio 4-speed manual transmission sporting the awesome prerequisite Hurst shifter. The undercarriage also highlights the true survivor condition, as it still shows the original factory primer and paint overspray applied on the assembly line. On close inspection, one will see many original paint markings, paint dabs, stickers, and inspection markings. This Boss 302 has been properly recognized as an absolutely outstanding survivor by winning the Vintage Reference Award at MACAN 2022.It was scrutinized by some of the most knowledgeable judges as is recognized as a reference point that can be used for restorers in the future. Also used by the Concours D’Elegance Of America with the “Black Ghost” Hemi Challenger in a discussion panel on unrestored automobiles. Included in the sale of this special Boss 302 is the window sticker, build sheet, Marti report, ownership history with mileages, previous sale listings and more. A very special unrestored Boss 302 that would be very difficult to duplicate. Additional Details: 1970 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 302 -
