"This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T is a beautiful, rotisserie restored Mopar muscle car with a menacing look and feel! 1970 was arguably the peak of America's muscle car era. While Dodge did offer several successful muscle car options, such as the Charger and Coronet, the Chrysler marque lacked a true pony car from its lineup. Most attribute the first pony car to Ford with its debut of the Mustang in the middle of 1964, a youth-oriented, sporty car with a modest price tag. In the years that followed, virtually all of the other American manufacturers released their own pony cars such as the Chevrolet Camaro, the Pontiac Firebird, the Mercury Cougar, and the AMC Javelin, and consumers enjoyed the performance look and feel that these cars offered. Of course, in 1970 when Dodge released its own pony car, the Challenger, its was a huge success and Dodge produced over 84,000 units. The front end of the '70 Challenger looked mean, with a full-width, recessed grille that simulated a performance-oriented induction system. Down the sides, the new Challengers sported the iconic ""Coke-Bottle"" lines with raised rear quarter panels that sloped down into the taillights. The rear end layout was elegantly designed, with an almost space-aged inspired design with two large taillights that occupied virtually all of the rear escutcheon panel with the exception of a small center license plate sized gap featuring the Dodge nameplate. Even in the Challenger's debut year, Dodge offered numerous option packages such as the economy ""Deputy"" package, the more formal ""SE"" package, and the performance oriented ""R/T"" and ""T/A"" packages. The Challenger R/T came outfitted with several performance upgrades including heavier duty brakes and more powerful engine options, along with upgraded trim options such as special R/T decals and emblems, along with the more feature-rich Rallye Gauge cluster. In total, Dodge produced 14,889 Challenger R/T hardtops which makes this R/T Challenger quite a special and collectible automobile. This particular example comes to us with its Production Broadcast Build Sheet along with its fender tag from an excellent steward of the car. Powering this '70 Challenger R/T is an upgraded 440 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor tucked beneath the dual snorkel air cleaner. The NOM 440 V8 is backed by a 727 TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission that makes this Mopar pony car an easy car for just about anybody to take for a spin around the block. Exhaust leaved this Dodge's 440 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup with FlowMaster mufflers that generates a fantastic throaty sound out of the rear tailpipes. This '70 Challenger comes outfitted with great options! With power steering, squeezing this Dodge Challenger R/T into a tight parking space at the local car show or drive-in is a total breeze and the overall driving experience is much improved. Further assisting in tight spaces is the addition of dual chrome outside mirrors. Riding on a set of BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised letter tires mounted on a set of optional Code W21 Rallye Wheels accented with Beauty Rings, this 1970 Challenger R/T is a fantastic look and even better ride. Braking is supplied by drum brakes in all four corners that run through a dual master cylinder that provides more reliable stopping power. The body of this 1970 Challenger has been correctly refinished in Dark Green Metallic paint with R/T beltline decals that complete the exterior look of this pony car. The interior of this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T is gorgeous! The front high-back bucket seats and rear bench seat have been correctly reupholstered in Green Vinyl. The color-matched door panels, carpeting, center console, and padded dash all appear to remain in their stock configuration and appear to retain a nice stock appearance. The simulated woodgrain trimmed Rallye instrument cluster is outfitted with a 150 MPH speedometer, 8,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, alternator gauge, fuel gauge, and Rallye clock. The dash is finished off with an AM/FM entertainment system, various lighting and climate controls, indicator lights, a slide-out ashtray and locking glovebox. Whether you're buying your first classic muscle car or you're adding to your existing Mopar collection, this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T would make an excellent choice.
