"STK 3541 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
In 1964, Chevrolet began production of an automobile that would become a muscle car legend. The original Chevelle was constructed on a wheelbase not much larger than 'compact' cars of that era, but the Chevelle grew quickly in dimensions and horsepower. The first 'Rat motors were installed in 1965 and the Chevelle SS396 was born. In 1968 GM decided to make major changes to their mid-size offerings. The 2nd generation Chevelle has arguably become one of the most popular muscle cars ever built, however the only way to truly document a 1969 Chevelle as a factory SS396 is with original paperwork such as a build sheet, chassis broadcast copy sheet or window sticker that identifies the codes/options. Lacking this paperwork, we cannot be positive of authenticity, but this '69 Chevelle certainly appears to be the real deal. It has been faithfully restored to virtually 'like new' condition. The exterior is stunning with a careful two-stage respray of Dover White (original color was Frost Green code 59). Accents include SS396 emblems, SS grill/tail panel, pin stripping, and a new black vinyl top. The stance is pure muscle on 14x7 SS wheels and 70 Series BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The black vinyl interior was meticulously refreshed with new upholstery, carpeting and headliner. The Chevelle is equipped with bucket seats (power driver), full console, cold A/C (R-134), cruise and SS gauge package w/tach. Windows are tinted and sounds are provided by a RetroSound 'OEM-style' AM/FM sound system.
The Chevelle is powered by a 396ci big-block, but it is not matching numbers. The casting number identifies the block to have been manufactured in 1967. The engine certainly looks and sounds like a 396/325hp Chevelle SS motor, the base version of the Mark IV big-block. These engines had cast-iron oval-port cylinder heads, hydraulic camshaft and a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel on a cast-iron intake manifold. This motor was rated for 325hp and 410lb-ft of torque. The 'Rat' is backed by a GM 3-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to a 12-bolt differential w/street gearing. The Chevelle's chassis is fitted with power steering, power disc/drum brakes (new brake booster), HD front/rear sway bars, and new exhaust system. The front/rear suspensions are coil springs w/air shocks in the rear. This Chevelle SS396 is going to make its new owner very proud. ALL VEHICLES SOLD ""AS IS"".
