Typically we like to start with the details on the engine or the exterior, but let's switch gears for a second and appreciate the overall uniqueness of this example and the 68 Model Year(MY). Gone away are side vent windows as Astro Ventilation was new. The 68MY is the last to have the ignition switch on the instrument panel until 1997. Unique also to the 68MY, the door opening mechanism consists of a spring-loaded finger plate and a separate release button, a small but cool feature. Do you see any windshield wipers? Not at a glance because they are tucked away under a vacuum-operated panel, another cool feature.
Powered by a 327ci, 350hp numbers matching engine mated to a 4-speed Muncie, this Corvette is ready to rumble and boy does it sound good! The true dual exhaust sings a symphony out of the tailpipes. The previous owner went through an engine rebuild and while rebuilding had the engine bored 10-over. Other mechanical options include power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes to make this C3 enjoyable to drive.
The Corvette rolled 28,566 units off the assembly line and 18,630 of those were convertibles for 1968. With the factory trim plate still in place, this ""986"" paint-coded Corvette wears the Silverstone Silver with a professional respray. 3,435 Corvettes left the factory dressed in the Silverstone Silver.
Slide in the original interior and you will quickly notice the 442-coded Gunmetal Vinyl fits so well with the exterior. With fiber optics coming into the dash to illuminate warning lights, the interior is still very classy. Another rare option on this example is the AM/FM Stereo that is still in place and working! With a cost that was $278.10, upgrading to this option was more expensive than the L36 427ci, 390HP engine option.
Recent work includes brand new tires, a new fuel tank, radiator replaced two years ago with a factory correct one(original has been kept), original alternator rebuilt, and a date-coded hard top. The seller has left the headliner off on the hard top to show the date.
Whether you are a collector looking to add to your collection or looking for a great driver, this Corvette will not disappoint!

We often get asked why the name is Survivor Classic Car Services, if not everything we sell is a survivor car. There are a few reasons for this. First of all, we do sell survivor cars when we can find them. At the same time, we can't run a business solely on survivors. There aren't that many out there anymore. Secondly, we donate money each and every month to local charities that help survivors of war, abuse, disease, homelessness, etc. We sell survivors all the way up to full frame-off restored classics that are better than they day they were built.
We also offer pre-purchase inspections and certified appraisals if you're considering buying or selling a vehicle. Learn More Here: Services
