*1965 Porsche 356 SC Coupe*The 356 was the car that started everything for Porsche- the companys first production car, the 356 was produced from 1948-1965 and earned the German manufacturer a reputation for quality and engineering that they hold to this day. This 1965 356 SC Coupe is from the final year of 356 production, when Porsche was building 356s and 911s side by side in its factory. Finished in Signal Red over a black interior, this is the most evolved variant of the 356 and by many enthusiasts' estimations, the best to drive by a significant margin. The 356 was broken up broadly into 4 series, the Pre-A, A, B and C, with the SC like this car taking the mantle as the most powerful pushrod 356 to come out of Porsche.Benefitting from a comprehensive restoration in the early 2000s, this 356 SC presents very nicely and has received considerable care and attention over the years, to make sure that it still runs and drives as well as it did back in 1965. According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car still wears its original color combination and the numbers on the drivetrain correspond to those on the COA. Even 20 years after the restoration was completed, the car looks fantastic and both the paint and interior work were carried out to a very high level. The Chrome wheels and hubcaps are wrapped in a set of Michelin XZX radial tires and the headlamps up front have been upgraded with a set of Hella H4s.On the interior, black vinyl covers the front and rear seats and is in very good condition, and classic style German Square Weave carpet lines the floors of this 356. The dashboard is finished in body color and houses a simple gauge layout of a speedometer and tachometer, and multi-gauge situated directly in front of the driver. A period-correct Blaupunkt AM/FM head unit is fitted just above the heater controls and was recently rebuilt to ensure proper functioning. One of the great things about the 356 is its simplicity, which truly lets you focus on what they made their name on- driving.Sitting out back is a 1,600cc air-cooled Flat-4 which is rated at 107 horsepower and 91 lb-ft of torque. Fed by a pair of dual Solex carburetors, the 356 SC was rated from the Porsche factory to have a top speed of 125 mph- which was truly a remarkable feat given the engine displacement. The engine has received a thorough servicing recently which included tuning the carburetors, ignition system, fresh fluids and a new set of spark plugs. It now runs fantastically and will be happy on your favorite back road or cruising down the highway. Power is then sent through a 4-speed manual transaxle- that was freshly rebuilt by Chriss German Auto- to the rear wheels. One of the largest changes seen on the C generation of the 356 is the addition of disc brakes at all 4 wheels- on this car, they have been fitted with an upgraded dual-stage brake master cylinder for greater breaking power and more reliability. Many Porsche enthusiasts have generations of the 356 that are their favorite- some love the pure design of the early Pre-A cars, while others prefer something slightly more modern- but the truth is, it is undeniable that these late 356 SCs are the most every-day usable cars in the models history. This example benefits from lots of recent servicing and will be a great driver that, if you wanted could be easily used every single day, or would be a perfect weekend and road trip car that will have no problem keeping up with modern traffic. Whatever you choose to use this car for, one thing that isnt in doubt is that every time you get behind the wheel, youll have a smile on your face.*Key Features* * 1,600cc Flat-4 * 107 Horsepower * 91 Lb-Ft of Torque * 2X Solex Carburetors * 4-Speed Manual Gearbox * Fresh Rebuild * 4-Wheel Disc Brakes * 15 Chrome Wheels With Hubcaps * Driver Rear View Mirror * Bumper Overriders * Dual Exit Exhaust * H4 Headlamps * Blaupunkt AM/FM Head UnitFor more information on this 1965 Porsche 356 S
