Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to present this awesome gold and burgundy 1964 Pontiac GTO for sale. This bad boy is the real deal, with PHS documentation showing the W62 GTO option, and L71 option for the tri-deuce-equipped 389 V8 that it was built with. However, while it may still be a real GTO, its been treated to a heavy dose of "Restomod" upgrades. There is a substantial binder with restoration photos and receipts from throughout the process. It started with finding a "real 1964 GTO with good bones", and from that starting point, the car was delivered to Funkerhouser Brothers in Ramona, CA for disassembly and its rebirth as a daily driver-capable vision of what a vintage GTO with modern flair could be. Under the hood is a GM Performance Parts LS376-525 mill, rated at 525HP. A giant custom aluminum radiator with electric fan keeps the LS3 cool, and a serpentine belt accessory drive system keeps the engine bay tidy. Backing the potent bullet is a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission thats rated for that kind of power. A QTP scattershield is there to protect the surroundings in the event that the clutch was ever to grenade; but thats not likely given that a new Centerforce clutch, and flywheel were installed in late 2023. Gear selection is handled by a fresh Hurst Competition Plus shifter, which adds a precision feel and solid reliability. A Holley carb and high output MSD ignition was selected. Exhaust is handled by coated Hedman Husler long tube headers feeding into a stainless dual exhaust system, which sounds just right. Out back, a Strange Engineering Dana 60 rear end was selected. The 3rd member features 35-spline Chromoly axles, a gear-style locking differential, 3.55:1 axle gearing, and a 1350 billet pinion yoke. Braking and suspension are handled by a choice selection of stuff from CPP, and include power 4-wheel discs, and CPPs ProTouring suspension kit with upgraded bushings and sway bars. A fresh set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires wrap its American Racing Salt Flat Special aluminum wheels and offer plenty of grip. Inside, youll discover one of the nicest GTO interiors ever. Featuring a new set of vintage style Classic Instruments gauges, full leather interior (custom bucket seats up front, door cards, rear bench, and additional leather trim) with real wool carpet, Vintage Air HVAC, and a retro-style head unit with Bluetooth capability, youll really appreciate the amenities. Theres even a hidden kill switch (to keep thieves from being able to start the car without knowing the secret)! Additional features and options on this custom 64 GTO include Power Steering, Seatbelts, and Tilt Steering Wheel. Dont miss out on this truly one-of-a-kind GTO restomod!
