1964 Pontiac GTO Black on Black, Tri-Power, Manual Transmission, Locking Differential. This is the muscle car that started it all the 1964 Pontiac GTO. This example is in mostly original condition, it appears to have been repainted at some point over the years, but all in all a great car with the right components.According to the trim tag, this GTO is the correct series and body style which is code "2237" - LeMans 2-door Hardtop Sport Coupe with code "5N" designating the GTO group. Built date code "02D" (4th week of February, 1964) in Kansas City, MO. The paint is the correct factory Starlight Black exterior, color code "A-A" (Starlight Black upper and lower). Overall, the body's sheet metal is in very good condition, the full-length frame is very solid with no signs of rust holes or cracks, the rocker panels and lower portions of the fenders, doors and quarter panels are looking good where these cars typically have issues. The chrome is in nice condition for being original, from the bumpers to the door handles, to the exterior's trim. The interior is beautiful, finished in the correct color code "214" black, matching the trim tag designation. This Sport Coupe features bucket seats up front in great shape with no rips or tears, only minor wear on the left "rope" seat trim while the matching rear bench seat looks just as good. The center console houses the 4-speed shifter and rear storage compartment. The dash board and gauge cluster appear to be original and in great shape the odometer reads 16,019 miles that are unverified. The factory push button AM radio still sits intact and looks great along with the heater control panel just above. All of the interior side panels are free from wear or damage, the black carpet has been updated while the headliner is original and free of any major rips or holes.Under the hood is the 389 cubic inch V8 engine sporting the iconic "Tri-Power" intake/carburetor set-up for a few extra ponies but more importantly, it has the right look when you open the hood. According to the engine suffix code "78X", this 389 was originally built with the single 4-barrel intake system but don't fear, the original intake and 4-barrel carburetor are still with the car! The engine suffix code "78X" also reveals that this engine was factory rated at 325 horsepower and backed by a Muncie 4-speed (M20), wide ratio transmission that shifts smooth and easy.It is not everyday you find a black-on-black 1964 GTO coupe with the desirable 389/4-speed combination for sale. Add in factory options such as power steering and power brakes, this GTO is a dream to drive whether going to a local show, or road trip across the state.Call our team at LaFontaine Classic Cars for more information on this great find at 248-744-2110 or email us at lafontaineclassiccars.com today!

With a deep passion for all things automotive, LaFontaine Classic Cars celebrates the storied automotive heritage of the Motor City and looks to make the classic car of your dreams a reality.
Founded by Michael LaFontaine Sr. and his two grandsons, Zackary and Mackenzie Hinsperger, LaFontaine Classic Cars offers guests an unmatched offering of iconic classic vehicles – from weekend cruisers to Concours quality show vehicles.
Just prior to the passing of the matriarch of LaFontaine Automotive Group, Maureen LaFontaine, the building in downtown Milford became available and it was the ideal location to launch LaFontaine Classic Cars. The attention to detail and automotive nostalgia throughout is a tribute to Maureen and her everlasting legacy.
The showroom aims to bring buyers back in time to a more classic feel. In addition to all the vehicles in the showroom, the space is decorated with vintage signs from vehicle brands of the past. Not only are there vehicles in the building, but the parking lot to the south contains many others available for purchase.
Michael Sr. commented, “This area is prefect for us as we have a lot of roots in Milford and absolutely love this quaint downtown. We look forward to welcoming fellow automotive enthusiasts through our showroom doors and they can expect to receive the same Family Deal feeling people have come to expect at any of our other dealerships. It’s all about personalizing the experience and having fun at the same time.”
LaFontaine Classic Cars acquires vehicles several ways, with a majority of them coming through auction and Michael Sr.’s personal collection.
The shop is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. More information, including an online listing of vehicles, can be found at lafontaineclassiccars.com.
