1964 Oldsmobile Starfire with factory 394 cubic inch Rocket which has been in dry and lovely New Mexico since it was originally purchased to the best of our knowledge. Engine has been a strong runner for the past two years after a big full service, although does leak oil and needs to be topped off after regular driving based on volume of driving. The engine has seen cleaning and some modification with an installed Edelbrock electric fuel pump, PerTronix 1181 - PerTronix Ignitor® Solid-State Ignition System, MSD Ignition 8200MSD - MSD Blaster 2 Ignition Coil, Temp, Battery and Oil Pressure gauge for the driver, aftermarket aluminum radiator and new hoses, Edelbrock air cleaner and filter. Interior has been modified with best quality PUI '64 Impala door panels ($500), Impala rear bench vinyl ($300, after redoing the padding myself) and killer front ProCar Scat bucket Seats ($1,200). Comes as pictured - if something is 'missing' such as the radio it is available, it just isn't installed; comes with most of the original components either in the trunk, extra, or installed as stated: original door panels, original front seats, original vinyl for the everything front and back (not great condition and some elements of the original panels were used for reupholstery etc), lots of extra random parts (extra tachometer, chrome pieces etc), original radiator. Installed a kill switch for electric fuel pump, kill switch for interior lights, and kill switch for power windows which work but could use cleaning as they need help going back up; kill switches were installed as somewhere along the way a ground wire is likely loose and the kill switches prevent the car from blowing a fuse on the windows or lights. The one issue which is now being addressed is the original Rochester 4GC carburetor. The original carb is gummed up although fuel is being delivered via the new pump and hoses. A factory NOS carb is on order and on its way and will be installed within the next couple weeks once it arrives.
All in all it is a project that has seen some good steps forward, and could use the help of a person with a lift to address all the original parts that are simply worn particularly with the suspension. These 394 engines are strong runners, and they have great output and sound. This Tahitian yellow '64 Starfire is a blast to drive with the windows down and has provided great joy in cruising route 66 near where it lives.
