Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is pleased to offer this stout 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 for sale. Not only are these cars difficult to find, let alone in such solid condition, this one is not your daddys Oldsmobile. Its black over white paint scheme may not be the one it rolled off the line with in 1957, it is a looker. The performance red accent nicely separates the black from the white, and further adds to its classy look. We all know the adage about beauty being skin deep, but this one goes beyond: under the hood is a massive 455 CID V8, which reportedly (but we cant prove it) came from a 1970 Oldsmobile 442. The big mill is topped with a Holley 4BBL carb, and its aluminum intake manifold feeds into a set of aluminum Edelbrock Performer heads. If one listens closely, they can detect the subtle lope of a performance cam. The dual exhaust provides free breathing, but the use of cast exhaust manifolds helps keep the noise down. Backing the big block Olds is a GM TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, which was thoroughly reconditioned less than a year ago, and is filled with synthetic transmission fluid. A recently added aluminum radiator helps keep the healthy 455 operating in the green zone while youre out on those car show cruises youll want to frequent. To improve responsiveness to driver inputs, a Vega power steering gearbox was installed, along with custom-fabbed power steering hoses, so this is one land yacht thats easy to park. Given the nature of the 455, many drivers may want to cruise above the speed limit, and if thats you, youll appreciate the power-assisted 4-wheel disc brake system upgrade that hides behind the chromed steel wheels, and the nearly new Hankook Optimo radial tires at each corner. The interior has been done in a matching color schema, with red trim accents and red-piped white synthetic leather seating that looks practically unused. A tach and tri-gauge cluster (oil pressure, volts, and coolant temp) keeps the driver informed on key powertrain operations. A retro-style AM/FM/Cassette head unit has been installed for your tunes, and a hidden kill switch has been added to keep this car safe from miscreants. Over $13K worth of updates and work have been put into this car over the last year at Gear Jammin Classics and Moore Transmission, so its ready for you to take it on plenty of classic adventures!
