"1957 Chevrolet 210 2-Door Sedan
Granted, in most cases it's the Bel Air that receives the lion's share of attention. One might even go so far as to question whether or not Chevy even produced anything other than the Bel Air, (and Corvette), in 1957, yet two other models were rolling for the assembly line: the 150, for the economy-minded consumer, and the 210, which bridged the gap between the 150 and the luxurious Bel Air. Today, these are the affordable models that make great alternatives to owning and restoring the more expensive Bel Air.
For consignment, a mid-range trim package of 1957 in the form of a 210 dressed as a Bel Air. Won in a raffle it then underwent a complete restoration and upgrade eventually coming to a rest with a high horsepower, (a whopping 430 to be exact), LS3 mill. It is in overall absolute immaculate condition, has many modern amenities, and can absolutely be a classic looking daily driver.
Exterior
With a Mariana trench deep Gypsy Red bathing the body panels, we can see nearly a flawless application of said paint. The chrome is just gleaming all around thanks to the new wrap-around front bumper and ""Dagmar"" corners of trimmings for the silver tinted grille. This car has the stainless steel horizontal ribbed panels which are ever expanding as they move back as the trimming panel for the rear quarters. This takes its handoff from a trim spear in chrome that starts at the front quarter headlights. I just love this exterior design with the chrome topped fins which drop vertically to form a crescent shaped tail light at the bottom. Way down is a new rear bumper, nice and shiny, and this has an inset oval filler on either side, and just below are inset blacked out fillers. The restomodder has deep 18 and 20-inch Budnik highly polished snowflake like wheels and staggered width low profile Mickey Thompson black wall tires on all 4 corners. Tinted wrap around glass, dual jet age inset hood trimmings, visored headlamps and these fins to die for. I'm all shook up!
Interior
A recovering of the seats shows all beige ""phat"" padded two tone leather for the split back upfront. The inserts are tuck and roll cream panels and these show just a little wear as leather tends to do. In the back is another ""phat"" sprawling bench, finished in matching color and pattern leather as the front bench. The dash has its original trio of deep round circular wide bezeled gauge cluster under the steel visor above, and it is peppered above with some deep smaller chrome bezel lights for signal and other warnings. The gauges are now black faced Dakota digital sweep gauges. Just below the red painted visor is a long piece of uber polished chrome that houses shiny knobs and pulls, a modern yet retro looking AM/FM/Bluetooth capable radio and ignition key insert. Below the dash we can now see a box with Classic Auto Air to blow you away. Fronting the dash is a Billet Specialties tri-spoked Chicayne leather wrapped rally steering wheel. To the driver's right, a Lokar shifter reaches for the driver's hand from the hump. The door panels are molded and covered in two tone beige and cream horizontal leather. More chrome appears on these panels in the form of like new cranks and actuators. Dark beige carpeting in very clean condition floods the floors, and above is a stunning new beige fuzzy broadcloth headliner is looking very 50's and pristine. It's a hunk of burning love for me!
Drivetrain
Flip the jet age hood and I'm thinking Picasso, Monet, Or Renoir only in automotive form, as it is like viewing a work of art. An all black and shiny 6.2L 376ci LS3 is gracing the pristine Gypsy Red painted engine bay. It sports EFI and has a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission on the back. The rear axle is a Detroit Locker Ford 9 inch with 4.11 gears. It has Dutchman 35 spline axles. For the big exhale are headers and an Edelbrock muffler setup....Ahhhhh, Don't be cruel.
Undercarriage
Obviously a frame off restoration with a custom built Jim Meyer rectangular tube chassis supporting this resto-mod. It has a Rick's stainless fuel tank. For the front independent coil over suspension is on, and for the back a 4 link with more coilovers. Wilwood brakes are in disc form all around. Twist and Shout baby!
Drive-Ability
A wonderful cruiser with nary even a squeak. It drove beautifully, had nice handling, good acceleration from the LS3 and all working functions, even cool AC. Just a hot rodded 1950's delight.
I'm not sure of the exact history with this car, but obviously it was restored during its life, but whenI do not know. All good though as it presents nicely in its restored-modded mid-range 210 form but now very high end looker and cooker. Hey, it's now or never.
