Listed in the online Continental Mark II Registry, this example was produced in September 1955 and sold new in Vancouver, British Columbia, remaining in that province with two more known owners until 2022. According to a B.C. provincial inspection sticker still affixed to the windshield, the Mark II was road-registered through August 1977. A cosmetic restoration at some point in time included a color change to White over Maroon upholstery. Power is delivered by the Continental-only 285-horsepower, 4-barrel 368 CI V-8 engine and 3-speed Turbo-Drive automatic transmission. Correct OEM mechanicals remain throughout, including the engine, surrounding engine compartment, driveline, chassis, and suspension. The body is solid with the doors opening and closing properly. Chrome and brightwork are quite good, notwithstanding aging, and the Mark II rides on correct steel wheels mounting full hubcaps and an old set of Dunlop Gold Seal wide whitewall tires. Features include a Town and Country AM radio, power front seat, power windows, and aircraft-style control levers for the heating/ventilation system. An early and rare example of Ford Motor Company's Continental Division, this Mark II is a true American classic with a strong collector following that will benefit from continued preservation or provide the basis for a concours restoration. Appraised value of $60,000 CAD. Canadian tax is not applicable.
