1954 Chrysler New Yorker, Big Block Hemi Engine, This New Yorker, a C-46, is the last year of this model run 1949 - 1954. Manufactured by Chrysler from 1940 until 1996, the Chrysler New Yorker served as the Flagship model alongside the Chrysler Imperial for several decades. 56 years of innovation, luxury and class. First year HEMI 1954 first hemispherical motor ever produced, and the entire bottom end of motor was completely rebuilt within the last 100 miles. Amazing engineering created the Presto-Matic fluid drive transmission. It had two forward drive ranges, each with two speeds. In normal driving, the high range was engaged using the clutch. The car could then be driven without using the clutch (except for reverse or low range) at any speed above 13 mph (21 km/h), when the driver released the accelerator, the transmission shifted into the higher gear of the range. When the car came to a stop, the lower gear was again engaged. Engineered from the Presto-Matic transmission, all 1954 New Yorkers were available with the new two-speed Powerflite automatic transmission. Fluid Torque Drive and Fluid Matic were dropped. 1954 was the last year the long-wheelbase sedan was offered by Chrysler. The car has a full custom air bag system in the trunk to adjust the height of the front and back of the vehicle. The system is working great. Powered by an early iconic FirePower Hemi she could accelerate 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 10 seconds, faster than the Oldsmobile 88 Rocket of that time. The engine subsequently became a popular choice among hot rodders and racers. The spark plugs centered horizontally down the light green valve covers, which have Chrysler Fire Power raised red letter scripting, just plain looks cool. But is in fact design form and function, keeping the plug wires out the exhaust manifold heat, and making the spark plugs super easy to change. Extra large radiator. Points / Vacuum distributor. All New tune up parts cap, rotor, points, plugs, wires and a brand NEW COIL. Black painted cast iron intake manifold. Cast-iron exhaust manifolds. The 1953/1954 New Yorker had a less bulky look due to the reduced wheelbase. Gone was the split flat glass windshield replaced by the one-piece curved, newer aerodynamic design windshield. The rear fenders were merged becoming part of the body, vs. a kind of stuck on look. Once again this created a classy & more aerodynamic look. Chrysler corporation's new postwar body Featured pontoon three box styling. Factory original sheet metal with hours & hours of hand blocking and prep work made way for a Sea Island Green colored Wrap. Truly a work of art & sculpture, this year New Yorker featured tons of beautiful chrome, trim and emblems starting with an Eagle in flight hood ornament, directly under it a large slightly curved V with stylistic feather shapes. Thick round chrome bezels surrounded the top of the headlights, while a vertical ribbed rectangle closed the bottom of the bezel. A larger chrome front bumper featured ends that hugged & wrapped around the fender fronts. A single horizontal chrome bar above the bumper & chrome bumper guards completed the front of the car. The rear featured large vertical bullet shaped taillight lenses, with a centered backup light and elegant small circular turn single indicators. The interior is two-tone light green & black leather. The door panels are vertically used ribbed stitched green on the top with a black strip on the bottom. Green carpeting. Green leather kick panels. Bench seat column shift with clutch assist. The dash again is a true piece of artwork where the individual components flow into each other. The dash represents a rocket ship like cockpit of knobs, levers, etc.. The garage cluster is aluminum or stainless & showpieces a repeated circle within circles texture/design. A large speedometer and fuel gauge/ gauges take center stage with a gold colored circle dead center in the gauge. A thick Padded Dash Pad replaces the plain metal painted dash top. Original chrome push buttons AM radio. A dark brown leather wrapped steering wheel has a thin separate horn ring piece with a large iconic slanted Chrysler words center cap. Even the parking brake handle is chrome. Steel wheels with Chrysler logoed hubcaps. Fat white walls. Modern radial tires but that look nostalgic. Past & Present Motor Cars was founded in June of 2018 by Jack and Jeff and began in 2 small warehouses in Ocala and Winter Garden, Florida. After seeing the business have steady growth in the first year and a half in March 2020 we moved our Main Location in Winter Garden to a new location that at the time seemed huge. We were a little nervous to take on this larger building and higher rent but we knew we had to THINK BIG. After getting moved in, that was the start of Covid. Just after getting settled in we put signs on the door saying we were only open by appointment. While it was a tough time in the world it actually was a good time to be in the car business especially the classic car business and we continued to see steady growth. After 2 1/2 years in that location we proceeded to acquire 4 buildings and lease a 5th building. This allowed for the operation we have today with 150+ Classic Cars and a Service Department. We are still doing the same thing we have done everyday since we opened, Great Customer Service, Owners that are Available and Accessible for our customers and very happy to talk cars anytime anywhere. We will never grow too big to be real with anyone! Keeping our commitment to our customers through straightforward business and ALWAYS doing the right thing! We are the same people with the same commitment as the day we opened and our slogan is and remains:
