Here's a big, 1-Ton GMC that you don't see everyday! According to the original purchase order, this truck was sold new at Gauker Motor Company in Mankato, Minnesota, on August 24, 1949. It was ordered with some rare options, including a chrome grill, hood ornament, and Tele-Optic turn signals. Totally original except for one very high quality repaint in the stock color.
- Powered by a matching numbers 228ci Six mated to a 4 speed manual transmission, the truck runs and drives excellent.
- PowerKing tires mounted on factory 17" wheels.
- All of the glass are date-coded originals, including the windshield. Both panes of the windshield contain a repaired chip.
- The decals can be removed with a heat gun if they're not wanted.
- Clean and straight running boards with factory step plates intact.
- Original wood-planked bed.
- Heavy duty added hitch
- Rear cab corners look great on both sides.
- The turn signals were a dealer installed option, as shown on the purchase order. They were made by Teleoptic, a company that was based in Racine, Wisconsin. Very collectible pieces today, and what's neat is that they've been on this truck since it was new.
- The interior is all original from 1949.
- All gauges work except for the speedometer and odometer, possibly the cable. The original radio works great. Wipers, horn, and heater all work.
- The 228ci Six fires to life and runs great! The truck shifts smoothly, brakes well, runs cool, and basically just motors along with no drama.
- Very honest undercarriage with no signs of patching or accident history.
- Comes with a Kennedy Kits tool case.
