"1932 Ford Roadster
If you grew up in post-war America daydreaming about hot rods, jalopies and everything that goes along with them, you saw these deuces everywhere: on the covers of magazines, albums, in ads and on TV. There's probably been at least one at every car show you've ever attended. Extremely popular and a favorite of hot rodders to tear apart, and even replicated by numerous companies in fiberglass form...The deuce.
The 1932 all steel Brookville Roadster reproduction body is highly sought after for its outstanding reproduction qualities. First introduced in 1997, the 32 Roadster body won the NSRA Street Rod product of the year and went on to revolutionize the street rodding industry. Panels are constructed from the same gauge steel as the original car, and each is interchangeable with the original Roadster body. For consignment, and better than the original, a Brookville body and frame, running boarded deuce with miles deep paint, a 2-inch chopped windshield and some snappy chrome put on for exterior bling. This color combo kind of reminds me of a ruby slipper, stepping out on the town and turning heads with its metallic highlights and baby there's no place like home.
Exterior
The curvy fenders and running boards and body are covered in a base coat of Honda Redondo Red then a clear coat. These red colored parts also show a light metal flake and are smooth and shiny. This Redondo Red carries over to the hood and body tub and has been applied and massaged to perfection. No runs, drips, or errors to be found in this deep end of the pool application. Chrome adornments pepper this car and show shiny and mirror-like. Among areas of interest to the chrome are the front vertical ribbed grille, headlights and fender mounting bar, shocks, windshield and rear taillight bezels which are very reminiscent of the Duolamp bezels and lenses that were found on the originals. Ford V8 dog dish caps are secured to chrome wire spoke wheels in 15"" format and are wrapped in staggered width blackwall rubber with pristine treaded rubber. I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto...
Interior
Doeskin leather makes up the door panels with a camel tan carpeted strip below. Within each panel is a simple door pull, shiny actuator, and an envelope style flap which lifts to expose a small storage compartment. More Doeskin leather in overstuffed form covers the bench seat with smooth bolsters and deeply pleated tuck and roll inserts. A pristine custom Redondo Red dash has centrally located Stewart Warner gauges all within a machine turned bezel. These have chrome bezel surrounds and black faces and look fab in that shiny silver metal background. A tilt steering column with a modern wood rimmed banjo style rally steering wheel are seen in front of this dash. Very clean camel tan carpet covers the floors and is well protected by light brown carpeted mats. A long armed shifter grows from the center of this carpet and is well within the driver's reach.
Drivetrain
A consignor-stated 351ci Windsor V8 crate engine sits within the open sided engine bay. This mill is topped with a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb, an aluminum intake manifold, and Ford Racing valve covers. A C4 which is a 3-speed automatic is the transmission and a Ford 9-inch TracLoc axle with 3.50 gears is affixed at the tail end.
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the topside, we see an undercarriage that has been bathed in more Redondo Red for the Brookville frame and flooring. Chrome and black perform a waltz to create the coloring of the suspension. All is rust free and appears as if it was assembled last week. A chrome 4 bar with transverse leaf spring suspension is on the front and in the rear we are greeted by a chromed 4 link suspension with coilovers. Disc brakes are upfront, and drums are on the rear to give the proper whoah factory and for your auditory pleasure headers feed down into a stainless dual exhaust system with polished Magnaflow mufflers.
Drive-Ability
Surprisingly comfortable, it started right up, and we were off to the test track. This car handles like it's on rails and accelerates very nicely. It is a fairly smooth ride, and all simple accessories were functioning as they should save for the volt gauge showing no reading. On our return it came to an abrupt halt safely with the disc/drum brake combination.
A beautiful color combination, a ""Deuce"" with fenders, (a rare thing here at Classic Auto Mall), and all buttoned up engine and interior wise. This Brookville body is in fine shape and the consigner states that during the build all new parts were utilized, and photos of the build are included. Hop in turn the key and have some fun!
