This 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX convertible is one of a reported 793 produced with a 455ci 4BBL V8 paired with a Turbo Hydromatic transmission for the model year. It underwent a refurbishment completed in 2011 by World renowned Thornton Auto Works of Telford, Pennsylvania, with work including a repaint in Astro Blue, an interior refresh, and rebuilds of the engine and transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, bucket seats, air conditioning,an AM/FM radio, an 8 Track Tape Deck, Super Stock 1 wheels, and a dual exhaust system. This SX convertible is now offered with a build sheet, and all “Thronton Autoworks” receipts of the Frame off Rotisseree restoration.

The body was refinished in its factory shade of Astro Blue (25) during the refurbishment according to the seller, who notes the frame was refinished in the process. Features include a power-operated convertible top, a ram-air hood with chrome twist locks, a chrome rear bumper with dual exhaust outlets, SX badging, and White accent striping. Close-up photos of the paintwork, badging, lights, glass, and other trim are included in the gallery below.

Super Stock I wheels are fitted with G70 14 Firestone Wide-Oval white-letter tires and are accompanied by a matching spare located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The front Strato bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in white vinyl upholstery with a black dashboard fascia and faux woodgrain trim. Amenities include air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, an 8 Track Tape Deck ,and a center console.

Instrumentation fronted by a Rally-style steering wheel consists of a 120-mph speedometer. Approximately 68,221 miles are indicated on the five-digit odometer. Total mileage since the restoration is approximately 750.

The 455ci Rocket V8 with a 4bbl Rodchester Carburator was overhauled during the refurbishment, and sends power to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydromatic 400 transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle. The engine stamping shown in the gallery includes the digits 2E108308, which matches the final eight digits of the vehicles serial number.

This SX was restored to a #1 quality show car by the Thornton Autoworks Family of Telford, PA and of Barrett Jackson Auction Fame.

    Notes from the seller:

The only upgrade to the engine was a four barrel carb and manifold.

Thornton Auto works has the original intake manifold which I can get if needed.

The two barrel carb was used for parts.

A Posi rear was also installed by Thornton in June of 2023.

The 365 HP in description is a typo (my bad) but I know it puts out more than the originally stated 320 HP now.

The car was improved with these upgrades and is Numbers Matching.

Buy with confidence as it is a Thornton Autoworks Restoration.
