I believe that the car is a true SS. There are no documents. There are websites that have info on what look for and it checks all the boxes.

The owner does not have factory documentation (such as a build sheet or Protect-O-Plate) confirming the car’s original SS designation. However, the car is equipped with all of the standard features and upgrades associated with a 1969 Chevelle SS396.
As you may know, unlike many other GM muscle cars of the era, a 1969 Chevelle SS was an option package rather than a separate model, so the VIN alone does not identify an SS. Authenticating one typically involves evaluating the trim tag, drivetrain, frame, suspension, and other factory SS-specific components as a whole.
We encourage any prospective buyer to perform their own inspection and due diligence, and we’re happy to provide additional photos or information upon request.
Thanks, You’re correct. Only way to confirm is with build sheet or protecto plate. and original engine is MIA. or if original color was Daytona yellow or Hugger orange codes would show up in vin. #
