1969 Chevelle

– Believed to be one of only 323 COPO Chevelles ever built

– The Central Office Production Order (COPO) program allowed dealers to special order Camaros and Chevelles with high performance engines larger than 396 cubic inches

– Most of these cars were heavily raced in period on the street and track

– Original unrestored condition other than one repaint in the early 1990s

– Only 22,109 miles shown and considering the condition of the unrestored interior, floors and body I believe that to be original mileage

– Built on June 25th, 1969 at the Baltimore, MD assembly plant

– All COPO Chevelles were built in Baltimore

– The vast majority of COPO and Yenko 427 Chevelles were built in June, July and August of 1969

– Sold new at Bob McDorman Chevrolet in Canal Winchester, OH

– Bob McDorman Chevrolet was a well-known distributor of high performance Corvettes & COPO cars

– Ohio was a hotbed for dealers selling COPO cars according to experts on the Supercar Registry website

– 427 cubic inch 425 HP engine

– CE (counter exchange) replacement block

– TH400 automatic trans

– 12-bolt positraction rear end

– Original emissions control sticker still present on the radiator support for a 425 HP engine

– Original trim tag

– Power front disc brakes

– Power steering

– Factory boxed lower control arms

– Long tube headers installed in period

– COPO cars were devoid of any SS or Malibu badging

– All original metal with no screw holes present in the quarter panels for Malibu badges – correct for a COPO car

– No rocker trim – correct for a factory COPO car

– Plain, unbadged rear tail panel with no piercings – correct for a factory COPO

– This car is believed to have been raced extensively throughout its early life

– Bits of rubber are still present stuck to the inner lower quarters

– Completely original interior which has been remarkably preserved

– Factory 6500 RPM redline in dash tachometer indicating it was originally equipped with a high performance solid lifter engine – correct for a COPO Chevelle

– Bucket seats with console and “horseshoe” shifter

– Factory radio delete – indicative of a car ordered for racing purposes

– Everything works, even the original key buzzer

– Excellent original trunk with factory positraction warning decal still affixed

– Original spare and jack assembly

– Finished in garnet red with black vinyl top

– Correct Super Sport 14″ wheels with vintage Firestone redline tires

– Previously sold with RM auctions in 2003

A rare opportunity to own an important piece of Chevy muscle car history and rarer still to find one with this level of originality.

Good morning, I wanted to know if you could show me a photo of the body plate. Also on pictures 58 and 33, could you show the right side of the car at those same angles please. Could you also show photos of both door jambs closer and the rockers closer please. Also could you take closer photos of all of the dash. Also wondering if you can take closer photos of the top of the roof in the front and the back of the windows. And if you could also show a clear photo of the engine and where you took that on the car. Thank you very much .

Photos of the stampings have been added to the end of the gallery.

Wondering what the condition of is. Are there scratches and chips in it? And how is the condition of all the Chrome? Is there any documented paperwork that comes with the car?

    • carz123 says:

There are 60 pictures and 2 videos of the car that should give a clear idea of the condition. It is very nice UNRESTORED car. Chrome is excellent. There is a small ding by the grille on the passenger side, which is visible in the pictures. I have the NCRS shipping data report which shows the production date and original selling dealer of the car. Obviously if I had a build sheet, protect-o-plate, window sticker or anything else I would have mentioned it in the listing and the price would be double what I’m asking. Please read the ad in detail because it is quite comprehensive. Thanks.

Can you post pictures of the engine block stamp pad, and any transmission and differential stamping?
