Can you explain “ Period Correct?” When referring to the 400 engine?
It just means that it’s the right engine for this year GTO but it is not the original engine to the car.
1966 242 car was born with a 389. First year for the 400 was 1967. It’s a very nice build. Would love to have it in my coral. Best of luck my friend.

Is the hood scoop sealed? Looks like the scoop is closed?

The hood scoop is solid as it came from the factory.
I’m not sure my question is understood. The air inlet part of the hood scoop looks like it is not functional. Does air pass through the hood scoop?
It is molded solid and is not functional. All GTOs were made this way until 1969 when the Ram Air was introduced. For this generation, some people cut it open for individual preference, but this one is correct for the 1966 GTO as factory delivered.
