Dare to Be Different!

This Metro has transformed from its humble beginnings—originally equipped with just 52 hp and a top speed of 45 mph downhill—into a unique muscle machine with Grand National power. Starting with a V-6 Grand National block (serial #22514290), it’s been upgraded with an aluminum high-rise manifold, a 650 cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor, an aluminum Be-Cool radiator, and an electric fan. It’s paired with a Turbo 350 transmission and a 10-bolt rear differential with shortened axles, delivering a satisfying rumble through side exhausts.

A full gauge package by Auto Meter monitors water temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel. This is a naturally aspirated Grand National motor, built with Buick’s internal modifications for power and reliability.

The Metro now features rack-and-pinion steering and coil-overs for precise handling, with disc brakes up front and drum brakes in the rear. A dual master cylinder under the hood boosts braking safety. Larger wheels and 60-series rear tires ensure better grip on the road.

Inside, it’s equipped for comfort and convenience with a GM tilt steering wheel, heater, defroster, working windshield wiper, and horn. For music, there’s a JVC receiver. The interior has been redone, though the original headliner shows some deterioration but remains intact. While the turn signals are currently non-functional, all other lights, including brakes and headlamps, work perfectly.

This Metro is a true one-of-a-kind, blending classic charm with Buick’s Grand National performance.

  • AUTOFAN says:

Well bought, just curious, who wo the bid?

  • Flynt says:

Have you considered a video of it starting/ running ?

  • AUTOFAN says:

Appears to be no power steering or power brakes, do either of these require excessive effort? Non power steering usually takes lots of effort when maneuvering at slow speeds or when stopped. Non power brakes usually just take a little more leg, what is your sense of effort with these?

    • powertourpacer says:

Drives like a champ and stops on a dime! The rack and pinion work excellent! No effort steering or braking…

  • Kerry says:

What size person would fit inThe Nash
    I am 6’. 230lbs

    • powertourpacer says:

I am 5’11” and 180 pounds and just about fit to drive. I would say you would be uncomfortable with the accomodations even with the seat all the way back (which I need that position.) My guess would be at least a mid-sized vehicle for your needs such as a Chevelle. Thank you for your interest!

  • Flynt says:

What a nice upgraded Met… I had one in the 70’s and It had a reversed (Neg/Pos) electrical system and No power. Given the engine swap and JVC system in yours, would we assume this Met has been brought to today’s electrical standard for easily adding other comfort additions ?

    • powertourpacer says:

Yes, it has been brought up to today’s standards. What comfort additions are you considering? Remember tho, there is not much room for below dash a/c being such a small vehicle but it can be done. I have enjoyed her as she is. What information you need, just give a shout. Thank you for your question and enjoy the auction!

    • Flynt says:

You nailed it! Yes, In TX we could really use some sort A/C in a hard top. Given the power you added I’m sure it could handle it. And yes, I recall of the tight fit inside my Met. It was a convertible though and I was 17 so, A/C did not matter back in the day. Thanks, GLWTA

    • TDC says:

      Beep Beep
What is the rear end gear ratio?

    • powertourpacer says:

Will have to confirm, if a remember correctly, it’s a 3.42.
