The Buick Super combined the room and ride of the GM C-Body platform with the economical engine from the Special. This car is powered by the 248-ci “Fireball†straight 8 engine with the standard 3-speed manual transmission.
This car is unrestored, substantially original and remains in good condition overall. The exterior body panels are straight and free damage. The paint appears to be mostly original with some touched up areas and it presents very nicely. There are a few minor scratches and chips visible when viewed closely. The exterior chrome and stainless brightwork is all in good condition. The convertible top is also in good condition but does show some minor water staining.
The interior is mostly original and in good condition. The front seat has been re-covered in a non-original pattern, the rear seat is original and in good condition for its age. The carpet and floor mats appear to be original and show some wear. The dash and instruments are very good, as is all of the interior hardware and trim.
The engine compartment appears to be unrestored and is in good driver quality condition, showing patina consistent with its age and use. Belts, hoses and wiring are all in good condition; the carburetor exhibits some minor fuel seepage.
The chassis and floor pans are unrestored and in good driver quality condition. They are structurally solid with no rust or damage. Some minor fluid seepage is visible on the engine and rear axle.
This car runs and drives very well; everything works as it should, including the power top and hydraulic power windows.
This is a very good car that would show well in preservation classes such as the AACA Historical Preservation of Original Features (HPOF). We welcome and encourage in-person inspections by you or your representative.
