1928 Ford Model A Five-Window Coupe Hi-Boy Hot Rod

331ci Chrysler Hemi • Triple Strombergs • Muncie 4-Speed • Bass Kustoms Chassis

Some hot rods make their statement with flash. Others do it by getting the details right. This 1928 Ford Model A Five-Window Coupe captures the traditional hot-rod formula with a four-inch chopped steel body, ’32 Ford-style frame rails, big-and-little Firestone whitewalls, and an exposed 331ci Chrysler FirePower Hemi topped by three Stromberg carburetors. Built circa 2014 with chassis and suspension work performed by Brian Bass of Bass Kustoms, it combines period-inspired styling with serious craftsmanship and one of the most recognizable engines of hot-rodding’s early years.

Why This Car Matters

The appeal of this Model A is in the combination: a chopped steel five-window body, early Chrysler Hemi, triple Strombergs, four-speed manual, traditional dropped-axle chassis, and the right big-and-little stance. The rare Weiand intake and Bass Kustoms chassis work add substance to a build that already has tremendous visual presence.

This is traditional American hot-rodding reduced to its essentials — lightweight, mechanical, unmistakable, and built to be driven.
