Offered here is a truly exceptional 1974 Excalibur Series II Phaeton, a rare Cycle-Fender Edition—one of only three ever produced. With just 28,000 original miles, this elegant neoclassic represents a striking blend of 1930s Mercedes-inspired styling and 1970s American performance.
This particular car has had only two owners since new, the last having acquired it in 1982. It has been professionally maintained throughout its life and recently benefited from an extensive mechanical refresh that included new tires, a rebuilt fuel system, new brakes, hoses, belts, battery, and fresh fluids. The car runs and drives beautifully, reflecting its careful preservation and ongoing upkeep.
The body and interior remain in excellent condition, with paint that retains a brilliant shine and has only seen touch-ups over the years. The removable hardtop and replaced headliner complement an interior fitted with four leather bucket seats, chrome accents, and the original radio with 8-track still intact. Classic Excalibur styling cues abound—from the side exhaust pipes and dual side-mounted spare tires with original mirrors, to the chrome luggage rack, fog lamps, and sculpted bumpers and grille.
Powered by the robust Chevrolet 454 V8, paired with an automatic transmission and four-wheel disc brakes, this Excalibur offers both comfort and confidence on the road. Power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and a tilt/telescopic wheel make it equally enjoyable for weekend drives or parade appearances. Included with the sale are the original owner’s manual, color brochures, and a new set of side curtain rods.
During the 1970s, Excaliburs were symbols of prestige and individuality—owned by Hollywood icons such as Dean Martin, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sonny & Cher, Ronald Reagan, Tony Curtis, Phyllis Diller, George Foreman, Adam West, and Prince Rainier, among others.
Beautifully preserved and carefully maintained for reliability, this 1974 Excalibur Series II Phaeton embodies the timeless allure and glamour that made the Excalibur name legendary.
As one of just 92 Series II Phaetons built, and among the most exclusive Cycle-Fender examples, this car stands as a rare opportunity to own a true automotive statement piece.
