1940 Mercury Eight Convertible

This beautifully restored and rare 1940 Mercury Eight Convertible stands out in a rich Garnet Maroon finish with a tan convertible top and brown leather interior. It’s powered by a 239 cubic inch Flathead V8 producing 95 horsepower, mated to a smooth-shifting 3-speed manual transmission.

Restored by a professional builder, this Mercury was a true labor of love and features many factory components from its original configuration. The engine compartment is clean and detailed, showcasing the blue-painted engine block, heads, intake, and valve covers. The factory-style black air cleaner and original-style exhaust remain in place, and the electrical system has been upgraded to 8 volts for improved performance.

Inside, you’ll find a maroon leather split bench seat, matching rear seat and door panels, maroon carpeting and mats, factory gauges and dash, a maroon steering wheel, seatbelts, a heater/defroster, and the original-style 3-speed shifter. The interior has been completely restored with a high level of craftsmanship throughout.

This Mercury rides on factory maroon-painted wheels with period-correct wide whitewall tires and factory hubcaps. The steel body received a full frame-off restoration and wears a deep Garnet Maroon paint that glows in the sunlight. Chrome bumpers, trim, running boards, and glass are all in excellent condition.

The undercarriage is clean and well-finished, showing the same attention to detail as the rest of the car.
