1973 Pontiac GTO Sport Coupe 400 V8 with Frame-Off Restoration

This 1973 Pontiac GTO Sport Coupe pairs serious rarity with a professional frame-off restoration. Pontiac built only 4,806 GTOs for 1973, and just 282 Sport Coupes left the factory in this combination. Few black GTOs from this year survive, and fewer still are restored to this standard. It’s finished in deep Black paint (code 19-19) beneath a Black Cordova top, with a Black bench seat interior that completes the all-black look. The restoration took 26 years to complete. It was a professional, nut-and-bolt, frame-off effort rated 9/10, with a 10/10 interior, flawless brightwork, and fully sorted electrical and mechanical systems. Under the hood is the original, numbers-matching YS-code 400 CI V8. It has been overhauled and bored .030 over, then built with 62 heads, 10.5:1 compression, a Crane cam, an Edelbrock intake, and Pertronix ignition. The driveline was completely rebuilt, and the engine sends its power through a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic to a 3.23:1 rear. The result is a strong, powerful GTO that is a pleasure to drive. The cowl tag confirms a third-week-of-March 1973 build. The car was sold new in Williamsburg, Kentucky, and spent the last 26 years with its most recent owner, who stored and maintained it in South Florida. A well-optioned build sheet adds A/C, Rally II wheels, Rally gauges with tach, and the Decor, Protective, and Lamp Groups. Whether you’re a seasoned Pontiac collector or searching for a rare muscle car with documented heritage, this black GTO is a standout addition to your collection.
