1969 Dodge Dart

Fully restored, this Dodge Dart M Code Tribute features a meticulously crafted 440/375 HP V8 engine built to stock specifications. Paired with the correct 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission, it pays homage to the rare and coveted M Code Darts. Out of the 640 M Code Darts originally built, only 57 are currently known to exist in the registry, with an estimated 100 still on the road today.

Equipped with factory vinyl top and factory tach, this tribute car boasts several rare and sought-after components. The presence of factory exhaust manifolds, valued at $5000-$6000 per set due to their scarcity, adds to its authenticity. These manifolds, produced solely for this model year, are exceptionally hard to find. Additionally, the car features a unique torque box specific to big block cars, along with a big block A body radiator, both considered rare finds.

Built on March 29th, 1969, the car is believed to have originated from North Carolina. Notably, all M Codes were automatics, as four-speeds were not offered for either the Darts or Cudas. Furthermore, power steering and power brakes were not available options for this model.

With only 500 miles since its restoration in 2021, this Dart comes with the Build Sheet and Visual Inspection Report from Dave Wise. As recounted by Barry Kluczyk in Motor Trend on March 22, 2019, the history of the M Code Darts traces back to Norman Kraus (Mr. Norm) and his Grand Spaulding Dodge dealership in Chicago. Kraus, a pioneering figure in the Mopar world, defied expectations by installing larger, non-production engines into compact Dart models, paving the way for the official M-code, 440-powered Dart GTS offered by Chrysler in 1969.
