The Ford Mustang was introduced in 1964 and became an instant hit. The 1965 model year saw the introduction of the fastback body style, which was a popular addition to the lineup. The coupe continued to be the best seller of the group, accounting for nearly 75% of total sales. The first Mustang GT was introduced in April of 1965. They were available in all three body styles. Two optional V-8 engines were offered with the GT with either 225 or 271 hp and a choice of a three- or four-speed manual, or a Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The ’65 GT also included a special dashboard instrument cluster that became standard in 1966. The GT had stripes on the lower body sides, fog lamps in the grille, dual exhaust tips, and GT badges on the front fenders. The GT upgrade was an extra $165.03. The first Shelby Mustang was introduced in 1965. They were all fastbacks with no rear seat and the spare tire mounted under the rear windshield. The 289 was hopped up to 306 hp. They were all Wimbledon White fastbacks with black interior and Guardsman Blue stripes. The fuel door wore the pony & tribar Mustang emblem

Greg Stirling lives and creates in San Jose, California. He recently became a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists, and his work has been featured in numerous automotive art auctions. He started creating art in 1980. After going through three decades of self-guided exploration in abstract expressionism, the art of the 20th century, and post-war impressionism, he arrived at the door of realism. To continue his area of study, Greg experimented with new techniques, media as well as innovative processes and concepts. Mr. Stirling is also an engineer, kinetic metal sculptor, and automotive enthusiast.

A message from the seller: “I wanted to pay tribute to the legendary Ford Mustang. I applied an abstract painterly approach along with full range color and high saturation. This original art piece is canvas that is stretched, gallery wrapped and ready to hang. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to charity.”

Testimonials: “Greg, thank you so much for the painting of my car, it looks exactly what I was hoping for. All the paintings I have purchased from you look amazing in our home!” Russell Machado – Lodi, CA
