The rare 1964 Chevelle Malibu Super Sport being offered for sale is a highly-optioned and authentic vehicle. Here are some key details:
This particular Chevelle Malibu Super Sport is a first-generation model, with less than 900 miles since a complete frame-off restoration.
It features a L79 327/350 engine paired with a factory M20 4-speed transmission and a rebuilt 12-bolt rear end with 3.31 gears.
The car has always been garaged and has never been exposed to inclement weather.
During the restoration process, every component was meticulously touched with restored or NOS (New Old Stock) parts.
The odometer currently shows 52,XXX miles and is believed to be the actual mileage of the vehicle.
A new battery was installed in October 2023.
The car has been repainted in the rare factory Silver Blue/Daytona Blue two-tone color combination, which was produced in limited numbers.
There is one minor blemish on the rear edge of the driver’s door, caused by a transport company during the car’s relocation.
The blue vinyl bucket seat interior has been fully restored.
Factory options include air conditioning, power windows, tinted glass, tilt wheel, and factory gauges with a tachometer.
The title of the vehicle is held by a California-based bank specializing in classic car financing. Payment for the car will be made via wire transfer to release the title.
Full-disclosure items:
The new American Racing Torque D wheels were installed by the selling dealer in 2/2021. I don’t think they paid much attention to the width and offset of the new wheels as the right rear rubs a bit when turning sharply to the right. Otherwise, they do not rub while driving. It’s a very tight fit under the wheel wells.
The AC was converted to R134A in 9/21 but the car has not been driven much since then so the quality of cooling is unknown. The system may need to be charged. The Chevrolet dealer that did the conversion stated that the system was cooling when completed.
A fresh oil and filter change was completed at the same time at 51,774 miles (260 miles ago). This Malibu SS came from the factory with the driver’s side remote control mirror. The cable end was broken when I purchased the car and I have not been able to locate a new cable. The current parts are included with the sale.

So it’s not a Numbers matching engine but is it an authentic L 79 327/350 from 1965? are there any block or head stamped numbers to verify that? Thank you very much
I have a question as I see your beautiful SS has gone to Bid Continues.
Can you tell me if the Air Conditioning is working PROPERLY today? Can you take the car for a Road Test to verify? You should be able to tell from a drive if it’s working like it should..
Thanks in advance for the courtesy of your reply, Buddy in Texas.
Hi Buddy. As stated in the description, the original factory AC was converted recently. It cools but probably not to the required level needed for Texas. If the car is driven for a longer period of time with the AC on it might cool better. The blower motor works well. The only reason I am selling the car is because of a nerve issue in my legs which makes it difficult with a manual tranny. It’s a gorgeous car and very fun to drive.
It will likely need to be re-charged.
There is not a word said about the originality of the Chevelle as to paint color, L79 engine originality and numbers matching – please elaborate
from the seller:
The engine is not original but the paint codes state original to the car.
