Available for auction is an art-piece by Greg Stirling featuring the “Blue Corvette (C2) Stingray”. This 27″ x 40″ artwork is a single edition hand embellished giclee print on canvas. Made from poly-cotton canvas material and printed with fade-resistant inks, then hand applied acrylic paint, oil-based markers, and UV resistant acrylic varnish is applied ensuring that your art piece print will stay looking great for years to come. Included with this art piece is a certificate of authenticity that includes exact specifications and details of the painting.

The Stingray name was first used on a production Corvette in 1963 for the second-generation cars. From 1963 through 1967, the name Sting Ray in two-word form accompanied Corvette on all C2 models. 1963 also marked the first time a hardtop coupe was available in the Corvette lineup. The Stingray name would continue to be part of the Corvette name during the C3 generation, except from 1968 through 1976, it was featured as one word, Stingray.

After several revisions to the body, the dry weight was reduced down to just 2,000 pounds. When coupled with the 280-horsepower, 283-cubic inch Chevy V8, the Corvette Stingray Racer was quite quick, helping Thompson to win the SCCA championship in 1960. Of course, the biggest impact of the Stingray Racer was the exterior styling, much of which went into the production version of the C2.

Greg Stirling lives and creates in San Jose, California. He recently became a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists, and his work has been featured in numerous automotive art auctions. He started creating art in 1980. After going through three decades of self-guided exploration in abstract expressionism, the art of the 20th century, and post-war impressionism, he arrived at the door of realism. To continue his area of study, Greg experimented with new techniques, media as well as innovative processes and concepts. Mr. Stirling is also an engineer, kinetic metal sculptor, and automotive enthusiast.

A message from the seller: “I always wanted to pay tribute to the legendary Corvette C2 Stingray. Here I opted to utilize an urban setting. I applied an abstract painterly approach along with full range color and high saturation. This original art piece is canvas that is stretched, gallery wrapped and ready to hang. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to charity.”

Testimonials: “Greg, thank you so much for the painting of my car, it looks exactly what I was hoping for. All the paintings I have purchased from you look amazing in our home!” Russell Machado – Lodi, CA
