In 1963, Studebaker went all in on this car’s production to raise their company out of financial difficulties. The result of their efforts produced this four-passenger fiber glassed body stunning sport sedan which to this day continues to be a timeless beauty. The Avanti claimed many speed records to its credit in its fledgling year and the supercharged Avanti was then the fastest production car as well as the most powerful on the planet recording 178 miles per hour at the Bonneville salt flats. This 63′ Studebaker is finished in Avanti red metallic with a beautiful tan leather interior.

Under the hood of this beautiful car is a 4.7L, 289 cubic inch supercharged V8 R2 engine paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. This car made a huge 289HP which is about 1HP per cubic inch, at the time this sort of performance was unheard of at the time! This supercharged R2 engine is extremely rare and desirable to collectors. The R2 engine was boosted by a belt-driven Paxton SN-60 centrifugal supercharger, this brought the engine up to 289HP, versus the R1 non-supercharged engine which made 240HP. Only 1833 supercharged R2 versions were ever made which makes this car extremely desirable to enthusiasts and collectors.
