1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Two Door
Though this Chevrolet was produced on the Kansas City assembly line in 1956, it looks like it was made this morning. It looks new. It smells new. It is as tight as new. This two door Bel Air draws attention wherever it goes. Virtually unchanged in outward appearance, except for its aggressive stance and lowered profile, the ageless styling of this car echoes a simpler era – a time when America fell deep in love with the square looking “shoeboxes” that Chevy made from 1955 to 1957. That obsession created instant classic status for the “Tri 5” bowties, and the allure of this everyman’s car is as strong today as it was then. The term “Classic Chevy” is exactly the term that applies to this restomod specimen.
Sporting a rich Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige exterior finish and a flawless, matching original style interior, this Bel Air imparts to the driver a sensation of timeless refinement, smooth power, and comfortable accommodation. The classic styling is carefully balanced with modern dependability as this fully restored and upgraded Chevy has all the features someone could want. There are a scant 2550 miles on the odometer.
The tried and true drive train combination is a strong 350 CID V8 topped with high compression heads with roller rockers, a high rise Weiand intake manifold, 650 cfm Holley dual feed carburetor, MSD ignition. Ceramic coated ram horn exhaust headers feed the equalized stainless steel dual exhaust Dynamax mufflers emit an assertive rumble. A console mounted Lokar shifter mixes the gears in a GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission transferring power to tough 12 bolt rear end with 3.55:1 gears. Up front, dropped spindles enhance the stance, and anti-sway bars and power steering ensure handling ease. Aft, the parallel leaf rear suspension is lowered with blocks and traction bars ensure positive power transfer. The car has new springs and shocks, drilled and slotted front disk brakes and drums in the rear. An aluminum radiator with big 16 inch electric fans provides engine cooling, and a Vintage air conditioning and heat system keeps passengers comfortable. Other creature comforts include a tilt steering column, AM/FM stereo system, and custom leather wrapped steering wheel. The Bel Air rides on radial tires with full tread wrapped around 20 inch and 18 inch polished Salt Flats rims.
If you, like so many Americans, are immediately drawn to the simple lines, nostalgic heritage, and enduring value of the Classic Chevys, perhaps this car is the right one for you. This restomod Chevy is a grand automobile that you would be proud to drive or show anywhere.
