This pretty 1955 International R100 pickup is a refreshing and increasingly rare sight in a collector market dominated by Ford and Chevrolet trucks. Built by the International Harvester Company — a manufacturer better known for its tractors and agricultural equipment — these pickups were engineered for honest work, durability, and heavy-duty reliability. Today, they stand apart as distinctive classics with authentic character.
Finished in beautiful Plum Red, this R100 presents with excellent curb appeal. Black-painted steel wheels wearing original hubcaps complement its purposeful stance, while the optional side-mount spare and driver’s side mirror add both utility and vintage charm. Inside, the black bench-seat interior maintains the straightforward, functional design expected of a mid-1950s work truck. Instrumentation includes amps, oil pressure, and coolant temperature gauges, along with seat belts and the desirable optional under-dash heater for added comfort.
Power comes from the legendary Silver Diamond overhead-valve inline six-cylinder engine. Displacing 220 cubic inches and producing approximately 100 horsepower, this smooth and quiet workhorse was recently rebuilt by Hart’s Machinery Service of Cecil, Ohio. It is paired with a four-speed floor-shift manual transmission, delivering an authentic, hands-on driving experience that enthusiasts appreciate.
In addition to the engine rebuild, this truck has received substantial recent servicing, including a rebuilt carburetor, a replaced fuel pump, new fuel lines, an adjusted clutch, a replaced ring gear, a new 12-volt wiper kit, a new blower motor, a new battery, new arm rests, a new turn signal switch, and brand-new tires. Considerable attention has been given to keeping this International mechanically sorted and road-ready. As a bonus, all tires currently in the truck bed will be included with the sale.
Distinctive, mechanically refreshed, and rooted in American agricultural heritage, this 1955 International R100 truly turns heads wherever it goes and offers its next caretaker a rare and character-rich classic pickup.
