This 1965 Lincoln Continental has been given the right investments in original-style features and subtle upgrades. So it looks correct, runs strong, and is loaded with great features like air conditioning and a power seat. It makes for a distinct classic built for easy cruising.
Back when new, these Continentals were the way to announce you were the big shot. The extra-long sedan profile and iconic suicide doors were part of one of the most artful packages for the road ever created. That’s why it’s so important to have one continuing to look so crisp today. This one is covered is its correct shade of Persian Gold Metallic paint, and it was given a respray later in life to retain it’s the subtle and sophisticated aura. And this feeling continues on the brightwork. The big bumpers, full-length trim, and turbine-style wheel covers with wide whitewalls all show why this Continental is still for big shots today.
The factory-correct Ivy Gold interior harmonizes with the exterior color. The upholstery has a true vintage elegance with its intricate pattern and a touch of trim, and the door panels are even done to match. The carpeting, dash, headliner, and the steering wheel are well-coordinated with this, too. So you have a good look on a spacious car, and that makes it easy to share with family and friends. It’s all quite stock and feels original. In fact, the level of preservation is partially why this has been previously listed as an actual mileage vehicle (averaging under 1,200 miles annually.) We don’t have any definitive proof of this, but the overall condition seems like many decades of light use. Buying a Lincoln meant all the best features, and that includes power front seat, power locks, fold-down armrests, and power windows. Even the AM/FM radio is still cranking out tunes. And it’s great to have the factory air conditioning now running on modern R134a refrigerant but may require a little more work to get it blowing ice cold.
The sporty forward-tilting hood gives a great view of the large 430 cubic-inch MEL V8. This is believed to be the original motor to the car, and the big black air cleaner on top lets people know that you are keeping this cool cruiser quite original. There’s plenty of power thanks to the huge displacement and a four-barrel carburetor. And the dual exhaust even lets out a muscular howl when you really want to get moving. But this Lincoln will never betray its easy-going luxurious nature. It’s easy driving with the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a suspension has the right smooth ride. This classic cruiser even has cruise control.
This Continental is a model of classic elegance that still impresses today. So it’s time to hurry to catch up to this deal.
