A sweet looking time-machine to the 1950s, with some extensive recent work done to it to get it ready for sale. Someone who knows–or wants to learn–about these trucks would do well to pick it up and continue the work that’s gone into it. Just drove it on a 200 mile round trip to a car show! Drove great!
Overview:
In 1958, Chevrolet re-named the light-duty trucks to Apaches. The medium-duty trucks were called Vikings and the heavy-duty trucks were called Spartans. Design changes included four headlights instead of the previous two. There were given a shorter and wider grille which ran the width of the front end. Parking lights were now located in the grille instead of being in the front of the fender. The Fleetside Pickup box was introduced mid-year of 1958. While there’s no AutoCheck report available for this truck since it’s too old, the seller put more than $3,000 into it to get it ready for sale.

Was it an automatic originally?
from the seller–
I have researched everywhere looked at the truck and from everything that we can tell here it has always been an automatic but that is strictly our opinion I don’t know of a way of looking up a build sheet on a 1958 the VIN number does not provide the transmission
Update from the seller:
We got a hold of the previous owner and it was originally a manual transmission in the original owner still has it and says it will go with the truck.
He had elected to put in a newer 700 automatic for convenience.
Where is the truck located?
Truck is located in Cedar Rapids Iowa
